Rustic Summer Wedding at St. Francis Hall
This past July, Megan and Damien tied the knot at the gorgeous St. Francis Hall, an ideal venue to host their rustic, lively summer celebration. The couple’s vision for their wedding day was beautifully expressed through a stunning palette of sienna, cinnamon, and desert coral, punctuated by the elegant blush and white tones. Megan and Damien described their style as warm, vibrant, and full of seasonal summer charm—a reflection of bringing their friends and family together from not just down the street but from around the world. As foreign service officers, their job brought them to places near and far, so celebrating was especially special to them.
Located in Washington, D.C., St. Francis Hall was the perfect backdrop for Megan and Damien’s wedding. Its classic architecture, with high arches and serene surroundings, provided an elegant canvas for the natural, rustic elements that defined their big day. This venue exudes historic charm, with just the right touch of warmth and romance, making it a dream setting for the couple’s outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. The lush gardens surrounding the hall were particularly fitting for a summer wedding.
Toast to Summer
Megan’s bridal bouquet was a true expression of summer style—an elegant French hand-tied design of Cafe au Lait and orange dahlias, peach Juliet garden roses, Toffee and Coffee Break roses, peach ranunculus, white lisianthus, and white stock. The bouquet balanced rich sienna and cinnamon tones with softer blushes and whites, creating a refined yet lively composition. The bouquet was finished with a mix of eucalyptus foliages. The result was a floral piece as stunning as Megan herself, one that perfectly complemented the day’s rustic elegance. Each of Megan’s four bridesmaids carried bouquets which echoed the tones of the bridal bouquet but in a more subtle palette. Their arrangements combined white roses, white stock, Toffee roses, and peach ranunculus, finished with the same lush eucalyptus foliage for a cohesive yet distinctive look.
A Rustic Summer Ceremony
Megan and Damien’s outdoor ceremony was framed by a striking dark wood-stained square arch, providing a bold yet natural focal point for their vows. The arch featured a dramatic, asymmetrical floral design with two lush sprays—one at the top left corner and another cascading from the middle to the bottom right. These sprays showcased a blend of white, terra cotta, coral, and toffee roses, spray roses, Linette cremons, white lisianthus, and peach stock, accented with pampas grass and eucalyptus foliage for a touch of wild, organic texture. This design embodied the rustic charm Megan and Damien desired while adding a sense of grandeur to the ceremony space. To complete the ceremony look, the aisle was lined with scattered rose petals in hues of peach, coral, and burnt orange, creating a soft, romantic pathway for Megan as she walked toward her groom. The warm, summery tones of the petals were a perfect match for the couple’s rustic, lively theme, making every step down the aisle feel like a celebration of their love and style.
A Celebration of Color and Texture
For the reception, the vibrant floral theme continued with gold compote centerpieces on each of the guest tables. A mix of peach garden roses, terra cotta and coral roses, ivory spray roses, peach ranunculus, and red-orange butterfly ranunculus created an unforgettable burst of color, bringing a festive, summery feel to the dinner tables.
At the bride and groom’s table, we designed a similarly lush arrangement with a more elevated presence. Here, the warm summer tones were enhanced with additional foliage, ensuring Megan and Damien’s table stood out amidst the celebration. The arrangement’s rich mix of flowers echoed the ceremony designs, creating a cohesive, joyful atmosphere.
Guests were greeted at the reception entryway by a lush floral arrangement filled with summer blooms in the couple’s signature colors. A tall, gold compote overflowing with flowers in shades of terra cotta, coral, peach, and white, accented with greenery, welcomed guests into the space, setting the tone for the elegant evening ahead.
No wedding is complete without a cake, and Megan and Damien’s was no exception. We added a festive cascade of floral accents to their multi-tiered cake, using blooms in shades of coral, terra cotta, and peach, finished with touches of eucalyptus foliage. The florals flowed naturally down the sides of the cake, adding a romantic and rustic finishing touch to the celebration’s sweet centerpiece.
From the warm sienna and cinnamon tones of the florals to the natural, rustic arch and the lively, summer palette, Megan and Damien’s wedding was truly a celebration of love, color, and joy. It was a pleasure to help bring their vision to life at St. Francis Hall, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how every floral detail turned out. The rustic, lively energy of the day was infused into every arrangement, making it a wedding their guests—and we—won’t soon forget. Congratulations, Megan and Damien!
