Petal’s Edge Service Guide
You love our work, and we have a feeling that – after reading the information below – you’ll love our process, too. Get all of your questions about hiring a wedding florist answered.
Petal’s Edge Floral Design is a renowned wedding and event florist in the greater Washington, DC area. Our signature offering is full-service floral design, which includes all the flowers and decor you need for your wedding, from personal flowers and ceremony and reception design to custom installations. We have an exquisite selection of decor rental items, such as vessels and chuppahs, available exclusively to our full-service clients. We also offer florals via our shop, for intimate weddings and local delivery.
In addition, we do offer design coordination, reception set up and/or clean up, and day-of event management in select cases, based on our availability. Please mention these additional services when you inquire to learn more.
The price of florals varies depending on the specific flowers used, size of arrangements, container choices, and more. Please reference the pricing guide to get an idea of how much your total investment for your wedding might be. And don’t forget, each order will also incur a 30% charge for labor and delivery, and 6% charge for Virginia sales tax.
Absolutely not! The romance of wedding flowers holds a special place in our hearts, but we also love creating floral designs for other events like product launches, corporate fundraisers, business meetings, anniversaries, birthday parties, and more. Flowers can elevate any event!
Our clients come to Petal’s Edge Floral Design because they know we can master any design style. Whether your aesthetic is modern, rustic, traditional, whimsical, or something else, we’ve done it. Our job as your florist is to understand and elevate your ideas and style with our floral designs. The only thing that stays consistent from event to event is our commitment to high-quality flowers, designs, and workmanship.
Yes — we honor all the unique ways you choose to celebrate, and whom you celebrate with. Our design team is experienced in creating florals for a variety of religious and civil ceremonies, and our rental inventory includes many religion-specific props. We also love serving LGBTQ+ couples.
This depends. We find most couples book a wedding florist anywhere from 8 – 2 months out from their wedding, thought we encourage you to reach out as soon as you’re ready. To us, “ready” means that you have an idea of your event color scheme and style, and you’re ready to make some decisions about flowers (though they won’t be set in stone until closer to your wedding).
We’re thrilled that you want to work together!
If you would like Petal’s Edge Floral Design to provide full-service floral decor, please send us an email at info@petalsedge.com. A designer from our team will contact you to schedule an appointment to discuss your needs.
If you are planning an elopement or intimate wedding, you can shop our florals a la carte directly on our website. These florals are still custom for you, but with a streamlined process. Items in the shop are grouped by style. Please pick out what you want, share your color scheme in the order notes, and we’ll take care of the rest!
Please give us a call at 703-518-8488 if you have any preliminary questions
Every full-service contact starts with a complimentary consultation. We’ll use this time to get to know you and talk through your needs, color palette, and preferred style, since every Petal’s Edge wedding is custom. (Need some inspiration on what we can do? Check out our gallery, Instagram, or Pinterest!) After the meeting, we’ll send you a custom proposal with design specifications and pricing.
We can’t wait to meet you and talk all things flowers! While we don’t expect you to be a floral expert (that’s our job!), it is always helpful to see your inspiration. Clothing swatches from your wedding party’s attire and a Pinterest board full of images are helpful for our designers to understand what you like and dislike.
Absolutely! We have a wide range of vases, containers, and props such as pillars, chuppahs, arches, candelabra and more to create a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception. Rentals, however, are only available as part of your floral contract.
Petal’s Edge Floral Design is located at 1105 Oronoco Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. Our hours are by appointment only.
Our designers are ready to take your wedding aesthetic and elevate it into a head-turning floral display. It all starts with completing our contact form.

Twenty years in business means there are people whose stories become part of yours.
When former Petal’s Edge designer Bree got married in Hendersonville, North Carolina, we knew we wanted to more than just present. So we loaded up supplies, traveled south, turned an Airbnb into a temporary design studio, sourced flowers from a local wholesaler (hats off to Coward Wholesale Flowers for being so helpful in addition to our local ride or die @potomacfloralwholesale), and spent the week creating wedding flowers far from home.
It’s not every day that a florist gets to design for one of their own. The miles, logistics, and long days were worth it to celebrate someone who spent years helping create beautiful weddings for others.
This time, it was Bree’s turn, and we couldn’t be happier.

Café au Lait dahlias, ivory garden roses, silver dollar eucalyptus, sea star fern... Rachael`s bouquet was basically a garden you could hold in your hands. 🤍 We love building bouquets that feel loose, unstructured, and alive, like they were just gathered from somewhere beautiful. If you`re dreaming of something organic and lush for your wedding flowers, this one`s your inspo. 🌿

Eric & David wanted their wedding design to feel distinctly masculine. When we began talking about centerpieces, they shared an idea that immediately captured our imagination: instead of relying on flowers alone, they envisioned tables that felt more like a European picnic spread than a traditional wedding reception.
They described the feeling of wandering through a French farmers` market. Imagine baskets of fresh produce, crusty breadsticks, jars of pickles, wedges of cheese, a bottle of wine waiting to be opened. Abundant, welcoming, a little unexpected, and full of character.
It was such a refreshing departure from conventional wedding décor and the perfect source of inspiration for a celebration that felt deeply personal to them. It’s not a surprise that we’re seeing a return to this aesthetic these days. Some of the best design ideas begin not with a photograph or a trend, but with a story. This one painted a picture we couldn`t wait to bring to life.

What started in my basement — just me, a laptop, and a lot of late nights — has grown into something I could have only dreamed of back then. Today, we’re a team working out of a 1,500 sq ft space, creating events that once only lived in my imagination.
It hasn’t always been easy. We learned a lot of good lessons early, but the pandemic and the years after have really been the test of all tests. There were times when giving up might have felt easier, but I felt a deep responsibility to the clients who trusted us with their most meaningful days. I found support in the most surprising places when we needed it, and we kept going. I’m endlessly grateful that we did.
Petal’s Edge has always been more than a business. It’s a team. The faces might occasionally change, but the talent, thoughtfulness, and work ethic always remain. A community of people who show up for one another, challenge each other creatively, and care deeply about the work we put into the world. Together, we’ve built a standard rooted in intention, collaboration, and beauty that lasts.
The photos show a little of our journey, from our very first studio in Old Town Alexandria to the storage unit we briefly occupied when we lost the space to our current space on Oronoco Street… which, if I’m honest, already feels a little snug some days. 😬
Winter is coming... So this is your seasonal reminder that winter weddings don`t have to be white!
For Tiffiannii & Minerva`s celebration, we traded icy palettes and evergreen-heavy designs for rich layers of plum, raspberry, mauve, and violet. The result felt warm, vibrant, and full of life in the middle of December.
Jewel tones can go one of two ways: richly layered or overwhelmingly heavy. The secret is contrast. Lighter accents, varied textures, and flowers with natural movement kept the palette feeling romantic and dynamic rather than dense.
Proof that winter wedding flowers can be colorful, dramatic, and every bit as seasonal as the traditional reds, greens, and whites.
One of our favorite color stories.
