You love our work, and we have a feeling that – after reading the information below – you’ll love our process, too. Get all of your questions about hiring a wedding florist answered.
Petal’s Edge Floral Design is a renowned wedding and event florist in the greater Washington, DC area. Our signature offering is full-service floral design, which includes all the flowers and decor you need for your wedding, from personal flowers and ceremony and reception design to custom installations. We have an exquisite selection of decor rental items, such as vessels and chuppahs, available exclusively to our full-service clients. We also offer florals via our shop, for intimate weddings and local delivery.
In addition, we do offer design coordination, reception set up and/or clean up, and day-of event management in select cases, based on our availability. Please mention these additional services when you inquire to learn more.
The price of florals varies depending on the specific flowers used, size of arrangements, container choices, and more. Please reference the pricing guide to get an idea of how much your total investment for your wedding might be. And don’t forget, each order will also incur a 30% charge for labor and delivery, and 6% charge for Virginia sales tax.
Absolutely not! The romance of wedding flowers holds a special place in our hearts, but we also love creating floral designs for other events like product launches, corporate fundraisers, business meetings, anniversaries, birthday parties, and more. Flowers can elevate any event!
Our clients come to Petal’s Edge Floral Design because they know we can master any design style. Whether your aesthetic is modern, rustic, traditional, whimsical, or something else, we’ve done it. Our job as your florist is to understand and elevate your ideas and style with our floral designs. The only thing that stays consistent from event to event is our commitment to high-quality flowers, designs, and workmanship.
Yes — we honor all the unique ways you choose to celebrate, and whom you celebrate with. Our design team is experienced in creating florals for a variety of religious and civil ceremonies, and our rental inventory includes many religion-specific props. We also love serving LGBTQ+ couples.
This depends. We find most couples book a wedding florist anywhere from 8 – 2 months out from their wedding, thought we encourage you to reach out as soon as you’re ready. To us, “ready” means that you have an idea of your event color scheme and style, and you’re ready to make some decisions about flowers (though they won’t be set in stone until closer to your wedding).
We’re thrilled that you want to work together!
If you would like Petal’s Edge Floral Design to provide full-service floral decor, please send us an email at info@petalsedge.com. A designer from our team will contact you to schedule an appointment to discuss your needs.
If you are planning an elopement or intimate wedding, you can shop our florals a la carte directly on our website. These florals are still custom for you, but with a streamlined process. Items in the shop are grouped by style. Please pick out what you want, share your color scheme in the order notes, and we’ll take care of the rest!
Please give us a call at 703-518-8488 if you have any preliminary questions
Every full-service contact starts with a complimentary consultation. We’ll use this time to get to know you and talk through your needs, color palette, and preferred style, since every Petal’s Edge wedding is custom. (Need some inspiration on what we can do? Check out our gallery, Instagram, or Pinterest!) After the meeting, we’ll send you a custom proposal with design specifications and pricing.
We can’t wait to meet you and talk all things flowers! While we don’t expect you to be a floral expert (that’s our job!), it is always helpful to see your inspiration. Clothing swatches from your wedding party’s attire and a Pinterest board full of images are helpful for our designers to understand what you like and dislike.
Absolutely! We have a wide range of vases, containers, and props such as pillars, chuppahs, arches, candelabra and more to create a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception. Rentals, however, are only available as part of your floral contract.
Petal’s Edge Floral Design is located at 1105 Oronoco Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. Our hours are by appointment only.
Our designers are ready to take your wedding aesthetic and elevate it into a head-turning floral display. It all starts with completing our contact form.

There’s a reason the garden aesthetic endures. Sydney & Adam’s Omni Shoreham wedding proved that abundance doesn’t mean excess. It’s about balance. Layers of red, peach, and champagne tones brought warmth to the Palladian Room’s formality, while trailing jasmine and geranium softened its edges.
We often talk about ‘garden style’ as if it’s effortless, but true ease comes from intention, that blend of movement, proportion, restraint. Here, that translated into florals that felt alive within the space, grounded yet romantic.
A study in color, texture, and timing. The kind of classic that never fades.

Dreaming of a wedding that’s equal parts classic and chic? Take a cue from Meaghan & David’s stunning celebration at the Willard Hotel! 🌿✨
Imagine walking down a candlelit ceremony aisle lined with delicate petals, followed by a reception where the Crystal Ballroom transforms into a floral wonderland. Tall centerpieces of baby’s breath creating a cloud-like effect, alternating tables adorned with rings of baby`s breath circling white pillar candles, and a dramatic runner of baby`s breath and cnadles going down the length of the head table. Meaghan & David`s wedding was the epitome of romance.
If you’re envisioning a day that’s timeless, elegant, and utterly romantic, let’s make it happen together! 💫

The season for sparkle begins. ✨ From Thanksgiving dinners to New Year’s soirées, November is when party plans come to life — and our design calendar shifts from bouquets to ballrooms.
Our installation at the Watergate Hotel mixed metallics and white roses in sculptural form - proof that holiday design can be both organic and glamorous. Because at its core, festivity is about transformation: turning a space into a feeling, a table into a gathering, and light into warmth.
Designing flowers is one part skill, one part intuition, and a *whole lot* of listening! Every couple comes with a different level of exactly how much they`ve thought their design through. We especially love when someone hands us a vague idea of a ~vibe~ and trusts us to make it real. And to then follow up with the kindest words like this? It`s everything.
"Gerry took what was an overall concept in my brain for our wedding and came up with a beautiful proposal and showed up on our wedding day with expertise and proficiency. I was so happy to have her guidance and help, the flowers and centerpieces were absolutely stunning, and it was so great how she was able to take the ~vibe~ I described to her and truly bring it to life. She is extremely responsive and professional and I would recommend anyone who is planning a wedding or event to go with Petal`s Edge!! Thank you Gerry!!!” - Judith

Let’s talk about the “just a few extra blooms” request. Spoiler: there’s no such thing as extra in the world of flowers. Every stem you see, from delicate sweet peas and perfect ranunculus to lush roses, was bought with intention because flowers are literally our business. 🌸
The blooms for a single flat lay? Retail price any where from $20 to $75 and up. And. Up. Why the mark up? Because selling flowers is how we make our living. It pays the team, the rent, the cooler, transportation costs, and more. (It’s not just petals and poetry over here). Multiply that by 50 - 70 weddings a season and you’re looking at over $3k in gift blooms. That doesn’t include the myriad of other free blooms we get asked for: cake flowers, passing tray flowers, sample arrangements and more. That’s not generosity. That’s payroll.
Here’s how we handle it: We offer all our couples the option to include flat lay florals. If yes, we build it into the proposal so everyone wins. The couple gets their dreamy detail shots, the photographer gets beautiful product to work with, and we stay in business. Fairness (and beauty) for all.
No shade to photographers and other wedding vendors here. But boundaries are healthy. Everyone’s work deserves compensation. Be kind. Ask questions. Respect the craft. Love the results.
Jazz-age elegance meets Shakespearean drama. For the 2025 Folger Shakespeare Library`s Annual Gala, we channeled the Gatsby vibes and the Harlem Renaissance through gilded palms, white ostrich feathers, and rhythmic textures built for an evening of music and movement. This year’s celebration honored Shakespeare’s lasting place in American culture and welcomed new director Dr. Farah Karim-Cooper with a floral story full of swing and shimmer.
Special thanks to Sarah Cissna of The Side Lobby for her inspired creative leadership. The night was a perfect blend of theater, history, and bold design. Events like this remind us that flowers don’t just decorate a room, they carry its soul.
