St. Francis Hall is a hidden gem in northeast Washington, DC. Nestled in the quaint, residential Brookland neighborhood and adjacent to the Franciscan Monastery, it is ideal for a city couple who wants to avoid the hustle of downtown. (Parking! There’s parking!) The venue has so much charm, with soaring ceilings, open wood beams and archway that lend a distinctive, old world feel. To top it all off, there is a private outdoor lawn, which is perfect for romantic ceremonies or cocktail hour. Truly what more could you ask for!

Pro Tips

We love to see a mix of tall and low designs at St Francis Hall to match the soaring ceilings or some kind of elevated element. The old world, romanesque arches and stone walls beg for stone urns and ornate candlesticks. It’s a great space for a long head table, whether along the center or a regal King’s Table by the stage. Because there are a lot of naturally darker elements, lighter hued touches really stand out. All kinds of lighting really makes this space sparkle, from uplighting to lots and lots of candles. This is a place to not be a afraid of old world, classic style.

A rooftop celebration that proves timeless can still be bold. For Elaine & Trey’s wedding at Capitol View at 400, we leaned into classic green and white, but elevated it with sculptural greenery installations, gold Harlow stands, and skyline views that stretched for miles. A ceiling of foliage softened the tented space, while sleek black bridesmaid dresses added contrast and edge. Clean, refined, and impossibly romantic.

It’s Bike to Work Day — and while we usually pedal toward petals, we couldn’t resist sharing this creative twist from Elle & Bryan, one of our couples who wheeled their love of cycling straight into the ceremony. 🚲✨

Elle & Bryan’s wedding at Dumbarton House was full of charm, personal touches, and one especially fun nod to their love of cycling. Bicycle wheels became sculptural backdrops, proving that when it comes to personal touches, there’s no such thing as too niche.

Designing florals around unexpected objects? That’s our lane. And yes — it was all uphill in the best possible way.
