Meredith & Andrew’s Woodend wedding felt like one of those rare, full-circle moments that remind us just how small, and meaningful, this world can be. The bride’s mother is best friends with a past client’s aunt, and Meredith herself shares ties to both my father’s alma mater and my own. From the very beginning, it felt personal in the best possible way.
The vision for the wedding was classic and timeless, while embracing natural elements, a fitting scheme for Woodend, which in addition to hosting weddings is a 40-acre nature sanctuary. Meredith’s bouquet was richly textured and effortlessly elegant: peonies, lilac, and a thoughtful mix of eucalyptus, lemon leaf, and fern created movement and depth without ever feeling overdone. Her bridesmaids carried complementary bouquets, their green dresses blending seamlessly into the natural surroundings.
The day began with a ceremony at at All Saints Church in Chevy Chase. A classic altar design set a refined and timeless tone. The flowers complemented the sanctuary and allowed the architecture of the church to shine while still framing Meredith and Andrew beautifully.
At Woodend, the reception unfolded in layers of soft greens, whites, and warm peach tones. As guests proceeded into the tent, they were welcomed with potted ferns and lanterns lining the path, a simple gesture that felt organic and inviting. Inside, the fireplace mantel became a focal point, draped in smilax vine and layered with White O’Hara and Juliet garden roses, soft peach accents, and delicate stock. Matching the fireplace mantel design, the stairway banister was wrapped in smilax and accented with soft blooms.
Throughout the reception, details unfolded thoughtfully: a lush pedestal design anchoring the bar and dessert table, candlelit garlands running the length of the head table, and elegant Abelia compotes filled with garden roses, hydrangea, and textural greenery.
Every element felt intentional, timeless, and deeply connected, just like Meredith & Andrew themselves.
