We could say that Washington, DC has added a new wedding venue to its already impressive list of places to wed. For those of us who have been doing weddings in the area for while, though, the Patterson Mansion is probably better known as the old home of Washington Club, but old it is not any more! With a fresh face lift that blends the historic, neoclassical style with contemporary sophistication, it may quickly become one of our favorite new places for an intimate event!
About
Centrally located at 15 Dupont Circle, Patterson Mansion was originally built in 1903 by architect Stanford White for Robert Patterson, former editor of the Chicago Tribune. The building was deeded to the Red Cross in 1948, and finally sold to the Washington Club in 1951. The Washington Club sold the property in 2014, and it is now a flagship property of Ampeer. It is one of two remaining mansions in Dupont Circle on the National Register of Historic Places.
It’s important to consider capacity when looking at any venue. Patterson Mansion is definitely on the smaller, more intimate side. The ballroom holds 60 guests, while the kitchen and library max out at 23. This is perfect for events like smaller scale weddings, bridal luncheons, cocktail receptions, or rehearsal dinner.
Styled Shoot
The recent renovations did a fabulous job of cleaning up the space while preserving the building’s overall character. We were crazy excited to produce a stunning styled shoot to showcase some of the event spaces at the Patterson Mansion this last year. We brought a beautiful neutral palette and incorporated several other eye-catching decor elements.
Reasons we’re obsessed with Patterson Mansion:
- Location, location, location!
- Stunning architectural details including a grand staircase, railings, ballroom balcony, fireplaces and large windows
- Light filled spaces
