Tudor Place wedding ceremony in the rain

While easily the most popular month for weddings in the DC area, October can still be a little unpredictable. It can be picture perfect, hot as blazes, cool and breezy, or sunny with intermittent threats of rain. When we work with couples on plans for outdoor ceremonies, we often talk about rain plans. But rain was not about to stop this incredibly romantic Tudor Place wedding ceremony! With urns filled with lush blooms, a stunning bouquet and a floral palette that makes us swoon, it’s easy to see why nothing like a little rain would stop Tamari and Zach’s nuptials.

The vision for Tamari and Zach’s romantic Tudor Place wedding ceremony revolved around a beautiful palette that balanced dark and light, bold blooms and delicate textures, and lots of loose greens. Tamari’s gorgeous bouquet featured the most stunning Cafe au Lait and orange dahlia paired with Juliet garden roses, Leonidas roses, orange spray roses, peach ranunculus and peach stock finished with wispy touches of Queen Anne’s lace, fern, and eucalyptus. Zach’s matching boutonniere featured a deep orange rose from Tamari’s bouquet.

Flanking the ceremony for the romantic, Tudor Place wedding were two oversized urns, each filled with lush designs of white hydrangea, orange Asiatic lilies, peach stock, orange roses and spray roses, white lisianthus and orange snapdragons. As luck would have it, the sky cleared following the “I Do’s”, giving Tamari and Zach to take portraits around Tudor Place’s beautiful grounds.

Following the ceremony, guests proceeded to the Tabard Inn for an intimate brunch reception. Tables were centered with gold cylinder vases filled with richly textured designs, including coxcomb, Cafe au Lait dahlia, roses, hydrangea and stock, with wisps of fern and eucalyptus for continuity. A matching design was centered on the fireplace mantel.

It was such a pleasure to work with Tamari and Zach, and we wish you many years of marital bliss!

A rooftop celebration that proves timeless can still be bold. For Elaine & Trey’s wedding at Capitol View at 400, we leaned into classic green and white, but elevated it with sculptural greenery installations, gold Harlow stands, and skyline views that stretched for miles. A ceiling of foliage softened the tented space, while sleek black bridesmaid dresses added contrast and edge. Clean, refined, and impossibly romantic.

It’s Bike to Work Day — and while we usually pedal toward petals, we couldn’t resist sharing this creative twist from Elle & Bryan, one of our couples who wheeled their love of cycling straight into the ceremony. 🚲✨

Elle & Bryan’s wedding at Dumbarton House was full of charm, personal touches, and one especially fun nod to their love of cycling. Bicycle wheels became sculptural backdrops, proving that when it comes to personal touches, there’s no such thing as too niche.

Designing florals around unexpected objects? That’s our lane. And yes — it was all uphill in the best possible way.
