Spring Whittemore House Wedding

As the cherry blossoms painted the city in soft pastels, the Whittemore House provided the perfect backdrop for Sarah and Aaron’s nuptials. Their delightful spring celebration in Washington, DC will fill your heart with with inspiration and joy.

Whittemore House is a historic building located at 1526 New Hampshire Avenue, NW in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC. The building stands as a testament to the city’s rich history. A former private residence to musicians, several politicians, and a mountain explorer, the building now serves as the headquarters of the Women’s National Democratic Club. Its stately charm and lush surroundings create an idyllic setting for a spring wedding. The elegant interiors, complemented by the abundance of natural light, provided a warm and inviting atmosphere for Sarah and Aaron’s celebration.

The infusion of vibrant pinks, a hallmark of spring, added a touch of romance to this already charming affair. From delicate floral arrangements to the bridesmaids’ bouquets, every detail exuded the freshness of the season. Sarah’s bouquet featured soft peach Juliet garden roses, orange ranunculus, peach stock, peach roses, and wisps of gray dusty miller foliage. The soft pastel hues contrasted beautifully with the bridesmaids’ vibrant coral dresses.

This week is our last "calm before the storm", and for that we are most thankful! Thanksgiving is that last burst of fall color before the start of holiday sparkle. As we head into the December whirlwind of holiday décor, winter weddings, restaurant installations, and a very special charity celebration, we’re taking a moment to savor the pause.⁣

The quiet beauty of the harvest always reminds us of David & Eric`s wedding at Decatur House, where the centerpieces weren’t flowers at all but an abundant tapestry of fruits and vegetables. A true harvest table: seasonal, generous, and grounded in the idea that beauty can come from what’s already been given.⁣

From emerald to chartreuse to the softest sage, green can be grounding, glamorous, or a little bit wild — sometimes all at once. And with the Wicked sequel stirring up the color world again, we’re curious…

Mey first reached out by saying she’d loved her sister Iona’s wedding flowers, from the colors, the choices, the way everything held up for days. She wanted something just as thoughtful for her own wedding at 101 Constitution.⁣
⁣
A textured mix of white florals with lush eucalyptus bringing its blue-green hues gave the skyline a quiet elegance of its own. And standing there with that view of the Capitol, it was hard not to feel grateful for the trust families place in us, year after year. It’s an honor every single time.⁣

Laura & Ben`s outdoor ceremony at the Omni Shoreham moved inside at the last moment, and it turned out to be perfect all the same. We built a custom chuppah to frame their nuptials, overlaid with branches and flowers to echo a natural garden arbor. Swipe to see more of what made this one of our favorite spring weddings! Not every couple is lucky enough to wake up to the perfect weather for their perfect outdoor ceremony. But that is not reason to fret! Somtimes the plan shifts. Laura & Ben's outdoor ceremony at the Omni Shoreham moved inside at the last moment, and it turned out to be perfect all the same. We built a custom chuppah to frame their nuptials, overlaid with branches and flowers to echo a natural garden arbor. Swipe to see more of what made this one of our favorite spring weddings! Too early? I confess. I’m a Thanksgiving purist. It’s literally my favorite holiday. But as a floral designer, I’m often living a season ahead. Thinking of spring when it’s winter, or fall in the heat of summer. And yes, plotting winter holiday decor when it’s Halloween (if not the 4th of July!)

But something about the quiet in the air today and news of snow in places nearby is all it took to awaken my holiday spirit and launch holiday planning mode! If it takes you more to get you in the mood, maybe Sonja & Mike’s Christmas wedding from a few years ago will do the trick!
