Romantic Fall Wedding at Hotel Monaco DC

Romance filled the air at Alexandra and John’s fall wedding celebration at Hotel Monaco DC, a venue we return to again and again for its warmth, character, and sense of occasion. Their day felt classic and intimate, with floral design that leaned into the richness of the season while remaining refined and balanced.

For the ceremony, Alexandra carried an elegant French hand-tied bouquet designed in deep, romantic tones. Burgundy dahlias and Black Magic roses were layered with burgundy hellebores and ranunculus, softened by peach Juliet garden roses and peach stock. Seeded eucalyptus added movement and texture, giving the bouquet an organic, natural finish. John’s boutonniere echoed the softness of the design, featuring a white mini calla lily accented with seeded eucalyptus.

The ceremony space was framed with dramatic floral arrangements in burgundy and blush, creating a romantic backdrop that enhanced the moment without overpowering it. The rich tones added warmth and depth, perfectly suited to a fall wedding at Hotel Monaco.

As guests transitioned into the reception, they were welcomed by a striking arrangement displayed in a gold urn at the place card table. The asymmetrical design featured burgundy dahlias, Juliet garden roses, ivory spray roses, burgundy astilbe, and a mix of seeded and silver dollar eucalyptus. The composition felt lush yet intentional, setting the tone for the evening ahead.

Guest tables were styled in a modern, elegant way with a classic sensibility. Glass cylinder vases held monochromatic arrangements of burgundy blooms, allowing the depth of color to take center stage. The streamlined presentation complemented the venue’s interiors while reinforcing the romantic atmosphere of the celebration.

In discussing final changes recently, one of our couple had a note of hesitation in her voice, worried her palette might set a different mood than intended. Not seasonal enough? Too austere?

But here’s the thing: mood can be a matter of perspective. Which brings us to this wedding: once upon a time, orange was typecast as a strictly fall color. But flowers don’t follow rules. They bloom wildly, confidently, year-round! There are orange flowers in every season and in recent years, we’ve seen orange blooms show up to spring weddings, as warm oranges at summer soirées, and of course they’re still the favored guest at autumn affairs. Each time, the hue brings something fresh. Joy. Energy. That just-right edge.

Your color story should feel like you. In fact, for Olivia & David’s wedding, our bride’s mother shared that the color palette had been the one in her daughter’s childhood bedroom. A vibrant floral story that she had been living with all along. That’s what flowers can do. Pull memories forward, stitch generations together and turn a wedding into something deeply personal. Ten years is a wild thing to look back on! And 20 photos is hardly enough. Scrolling through 2016 feels like opening a time capsule of big ideas, brave design choices, and most of all, couples who trusted us with moments that still matter. That year was packed. New venues. A blizzard. We ordered more dusty miller than we thought could safely exist in the world, and greenery was having a moment. Features landed because the work spoke for itself. We saw our flowers in print, on glossy pages people actually saved, and across platforms that shaped the wedding world at the time.

Our rebrand had already happened a couple years prior, during our tenth anniversary, so 2016 was about momentum: refining who we were, deepening relationships, and building a body of work that still feels like us.

The way we share has changed, but the heart of it hasn’t. Great clients. Thoughtful design. And stories that age beautifully. 💐

Amanda & Matt’s winter wedding was a complete VIBE with so many fabulous details revealing themselves as you looked more closely.
