Newton White Mansion Wedding

Newton White Mansion wedding reception

Newton White Mansion, located in Mitchellville, Maryland, is a gem of a spot for a wedding in Prince George’s County. Original built in 1939 by architect William Bottomley, the neo-georgian home was the residence of Captain Newton H. White, who is best known for a distinguished career in the United States Navy. It is a romantic site, and Shavonne and Kahleb’s wedding at Newton White Mansion was as beautiful as you might imagine. Designed using a floral palette of Juliet garden roses, light pink Anna roses, light pink astilbe, peach stock, ivory Vendella roses and ivory spray roses, the bouquet was the epitome of soft, romantic textures and muted tones. The bridesmaids’ bouquets punched up the color a notch. Using Shavonne’s favorite Free Spirit roses, the bouquets were rounded out with coral Femma and Cherry Brandy roses, light pink spray roses and astilbe, and peach stock.

The ceremony took place in front of Newton White’s lovely fountain. A silk crepe de chine wedding canopy served as the focal point, the two cinch points of the elegant fabric featuring lush posies of flowers in pinks, peaches and corals.

For the reception, a mix of tall and low designs graced the elegant, light-filled space. Fluted gold vases elevated the tall design and complemented the warmth of the space. The reception arrangement flowers featured a mix of soft toned light pink and peach hydrangea, stock, spray roses and astilbe accented with bolder toned coral and orange Free Spirit, Cherry Brandy and Femma roses. Touches of lemon leaf foliage added a garden feel.

We are back at Woodend this coming week, and it has us reminiscing about Amanda and Jack’s whimsical, wonderful, William Morris-inspired dream of a wedding with an Art Nouveau twist. The wedding layered bohemian textures, vintage details, woodland creatures and, of course, romantic blooms into a palette that felt both grounded and poetic. Think climbing vines, golden light, and flowers that felt like they had stepped out of an heirloom wallpaper print - in the best way. We’re still swooning. 💫

A rooftop celebration that proves timeless can still be bold. For Elaine & Trey’s wedding at Capitol View at 400, we leaned into classic green and white, but elevated it with sculptural greenery installations, gold Harlow stands, and skyline views that stretched for miles. A ceiling of foliage softened the tented space, while sleek black bridesmaid dresses added contrast and edge. Clean, refined, and impossibly romantic.
