Vivid color, unique style, and of course love: three things we think of when we look back at Emily’s and Jason’s stunning modern Sunset Room wedding at National Harbor, just outside Washington, DC. This wonderful couple’s nuptials gave us the opportunity to combine a wide variety of orchids and other blooms in bright purples, greens and whites, with some truly unique and whimsical displays. Many thanks to Angel Kidwell Photography for providing us with these gorgeous images!
Lush purple vanda orchids stole the show in Emily’s hand-tied bridal bouquet, which also included ivory Vendela roses, white mini calla lilies, white lisianthus and white stock, accented with lavender freesia.
Upon guests’ arrival to the reception, they were treated to a striking display of tall glass cylinder vases, filled with rustic manzanita branches that were used to display hand-lettered escort cards.
Throughout the reception, dramatic arrangements with white and green dendrobium orchids, light blue delphinium, purple larkspur and curly willow branches and tips provided an unforgettable visual backdrop for the evening’s festivities. Emily’s and Jason’s thoughtful inclusion of special family photos made their florals even more memorable! We also provided vases so that the couple’s beautiful pew posies from their ceremony, which included ivory roses, lavender freesia and green dendrobium orchids, could be repurposed into additional reception decor. The cocktail tables were festooned with a simple, yet stunning, green cymbidium orchid atop a nest of bear grass and displayed in a small glass bubble bowl. For the guest tables, we had a blast incorporating multiple design concepts. The first brought height and interest to the reception space with a tall glass cylinder vase, filled with curly willow branches nested in a bed of river rocks. From these branches, we suspended small glass globes, each containing a single flawless green cymbidium orchid blossom. We adorned other guest tables with square glass vases, the interior of which were wrapped with green aspidistra leaves and then filled with white hydrangea, ivory roses, white stock, light blue delphinium, green cymbidium orchids, purple vanda orchids, and lavender freesia. The third style of tablescape we designed featured long King’s tables with elegant, dark wood containers reminiscent of window boxes. We filled these with lots of texture and color, including green hydrangea, purple vanda orchids, white cymbidium orchids, light blue delphinium, lavender roses, and white stock.
We were inspired by Emily’s and Jason’s fresh color palette and creativity, and wish them much happiness to come!
