Andrea and Marty wed one winter’s day in December with a rich scheme of red, black and white well suited to the modern red wedding at the W Hotel. One of the sweetest things about Andrea and Marty was in how they wanted to weave meaning into some of their flowers. For example, to celebrate the 12 years they had spent together, it was very important that Marty’s bouquet held exactly 12 roses.
The ceremony took place in front of the ballroom’s fireplace, which featured a series of glass-enclosed pillar candles of varying heights across the length of the mantle. Flanking either side of the riser were dramatic, monochromatic designs of red flowers in black glass vases – red French tulips, roses and anemone. A dramatic black runner was accented with red rose petals scattered along either side of the aisle. Pillar candles graduating in height lined the aisle.
A striking white glass vase on the escort card table held a design of red orchids and tulips. Andrea and Marty wanted to keep an intimate scale for the reception, and so chose low designs for the dinner tables. The centerpieces alternated between white cube vases with red flowers, and clusters of three glass rectangle vases with monobotanic designs of roses, anemone, tulips, ranunculus or orchids. The cake, with its intricate, black graphic design, was finished with clusters of red spray roses. The palette made for an exceptionally elegant modern red wedding celebration.
