The Fairmont Hotel boasts an array of spaces, both in and out. The most spacious ballrooms, however, are downstairs. While at first glance it may feel like a staid, big box ballroom, it presents unlimited possibilities, as was the case for Beeta and Ali’s modern Fairmont wedding. For this wedding in particular, we had an enhanced involvement in the event design. In addition to florals, the couple enlisted our help with selecting tableware, linens and chairs and to coordinate the flowers with other elements of the wedding. The style of the event was modern and elegant with a palette of whites accented with brighter pink tones. Beeta carried a sleek and streamlined bouquet of hot pink mini-calla lilies, and the bridesmaids simple posies of white mini-calla lilies.
The traditional Persian ceremony featured an incredible sofreh table at the head of the aisle, flanked by two striking designs of open-cut, white calla lilies in tall fluted glass vases. Both sides of the aisle were lined with tall ivory pillar candles and floating candles in glass vases of varying heights. An ombré design of pink rose petals lined the aisle. Paired with clear acrylic ghost chairs, the effect was dramatic and modern.
Lighting played a significant role in transforming the spaces for the reception. On the escort card table, four glass cylinder vases held a mix of large and mini-calla lilies in white, while purple uplighting created a dramatic feel to the space. The silhouette it created in the open space outside the ballroom was eye catching and elegant. Rounding out the cool, modern feel, the couple chose silver bengaline linens and silver beaded rim chargers for each of the tables. For the centerpieces, a collection of four stemmed glass vases held ivory floating candles accompanied by three glass cylinder vases holding simple designs of white hydrangea and roses. Uplighting in a cool purple hue truly transformed the ballroom into an elegant affair, especially against the palette of white flowers.
