Modern Blush & Plum Wedding at the Reagan Building

You will fall in love with the elegance and sophistication of this modern blush and plum wedding at the Reagan Building. From soft ruffles of the bride’s gown to simple and elegant centerpieces, and just that hint of bling to add sparkle to the overall design.

Stephanie’s bouquet was truly a modern work of art. The bouquet featured eggplant mini-calla lilies surrounded by a lush collar of white cymbidium orchids. The bridesmaids carried similar white cymbidiums, each ringed with blush pink roses. The flower girls carried posies of eggplant mini-calla lilies. In keeping with the bouquets, the groom wore a white cymbidium orchid and the remaining men blush pink roses.

The reception was a classic modern mix of designs in glass vases. On half of the tables, tall glass pilsner vases held lush sprays of white and blush pink dendrobium orchids aloft. A stem of eggplant callas was submerged within the vase. Square glass vases on the remaining tables held modern groupings of white hydrangea, pink cymbidium orchids and eggplant mini-calla lilies to create a color block effect. Folded lily grass added a stunning modern accent. Floating candles ringed the centerpieces for the modern blush and plum wedding.

This bouquet lives rent free in my head, but not for the reason you think.⁣

Our bride, Ana, had chosen stunning fuchsia cattleya orchids for her bouquet, so, as we always do, we ordered them well in advance. When our flowers arrived, I opened the box to find... white cattleya orchids. Beautiful, but not what our bride wanted. We immediately called our wholesaler and arranged for another shipment.⁣

Two days later, I opened the second box. White orchids. Again.⁣
⁣
This is the kind of moment that tries a florist`s soul.⁣
⁣
We arranged for a third shipment to arrive Saturday morning while preparing backup plans we hoped we`d never need. We debated telling Ana what was happening, but ultimately decided our job wasn`t to hand her our problem. Our job was to solve it.⁣
⁣
The correct orchids arrived Saturday morning. Ana walked down the aisle carrying the bouquet she`d dreamed of. She never knew any of this had happened.⁣
⁣
The flowers are only part of what you`re hiring when you chose a florist. You`re also hiring someone who will fight for your vision. Who will MacGyver like their life depends on it. Because substitutions aren`t made casually; they`re made only after every reasonable option has been exhausted.⁣

There`s an ethical dilemma at the heart of this story. As the bride, would you have wanted to know? As the florist, what would you have done?⁣
