Sitting at the crest of Captain’s Row in Old Town Alexandria, the Northern Virginia Athenaeum’s iconic architecture is hard to miss. The beautifully preserved antebellum building now serves as an art gallery, frequently filled with vibrant regional art. The upstairs gallery features 24-foot ceilings, stunning hardwood floors and oversized windows. A charming courtyard behind the building provides a beautiful outdoor space.
When you have two grooms with an eye for design, you get a chic wedding. We are excited to share Harry and David’s fall wedding at the Athenaeum, with a look that is all clean lines, modern and most of all masculine.
The ceremony was dressed with a simple and sleek design of white, open cut calla lilies in clean, pilsner-style vases atop white modern pedestals. The design complemented the airy feel of the space with a design more architectural and masculine in feel than floral.
Tables throughout the reception were set with a gorgeous, navy patterned linens. With tables set for a more intimate gathering and social distancing, each of the rounds hosted clusters of square glass vases of varying heights, each with submerged stems of white orchids and mini-calla lilies, and topped with a floating candle. The focus on candles for the centerpieces was breathtaking against the linens. Each place setting included a napkin detail of ruscus foliage, a perfect complement to the table.
It was a pleasure to being Harry and David’s vision to life, and we wish them many happy years together!
