You might be thinking that it is still early fall – maybe even late summer – certainly it’s way too early to start holiday party planning… The holidays, though, have a way to sneaking up on everyone. One way or the other, don’t panic! Whether you have three months or three weeks, we can help you plan for festive decorations and create a gorgeous event! Here are some common questions we hear.
When should I start planning?
As soon as you have a date, a venue, and preferably a budget, you are ready to start holiday party planning! With those things in hand, we can help guide you on the things you need. Please keep in mind that if you need a sample arrangement, you should build extra time into your timeline.
What is in season?
Winter is a great season for flowers – surprisingly! It is spring in South America so we have access to all sorts of spring blooms, like anemone, peonies, tulips and more that add great style to winter arrangements. Winter is also the season of branches, berries, pods, evergreens and more! Non-floral elements such as ornaments or pinecones can add a bit of flair to your floral designs.
What kinds of color scheme are suited to winter?
There really is not a color scheme that isn’t holiday appropriate. The real question is what is your holiday party style? If you’re going for something traditional, flowers in reds and whites paired with evergreens are a great choice. For something more earthy or masculine, incorporate succulents, berries and foliages like magnolia. Spare branches and grey accents create a truly wintry feel. Something more modern in mind? Massed single flowers in geometric containers like hydrangea, orchids, or amaryllis can give you high style and high impact.
What do I need?
When holiday party planning, there are arrangements you *need* and arrangements *want* – how does it break out?
- Entry Arrangement: A signature statement piece goes a long way to creating the first impression that sets the tone for the rest of the party.
- Centerpieces: If your party includes a seated dinner, centerpieces are a must. Low centerpieces are great for a more intimate event, while tall, dramatic designs can create a more dramatic or formal environment.
- Cocktail Tables: This is a wonderful touch to include in your holiday party floral planning. If you don’t have larger, “main tables,” this becomes a necessary part of your decorations.
- Buffet Table or Food Station Decor: Don’t forget these often overlooked locations throughout the room!
