Wedding Palette
As a same sex couple, Eric and David wanted to keep the look for their wedding more masculine. In describing their desire to use something other than flowers for the centerpieces, they painted a picture of a tablescape that reminded them of a European picnic spread using fruits and vegetables instead of flowers. Their description evoked a French farmers market – visions of breadsticks, assorted fresh produce and herbs, pickles and cheese, a bottle of wine. What an amazing wedding tablescape inspiration!
Ceremony and Reception
In keeping with the more masculine style for the ceremony, the chuppah featured a greenery-focused design. A base structure of bamboo was overlaid with curly willow branches, intertwining and adding texture and movement to the structure. A loose variegated ivy garland was then wound along the poles and front crosspiece, gently covering the bases and trailing away from the poles.
The reception featured two centerpiece designs. The first featured individual baskets and containers of fruit, veggies, herbs, breads, olives and wine. The second design featured a long window box filled with a dramatic arrangement of fruits and veggies. It was truly a unique look. A French farmers market wedding is truly something outside the box from the traditional DC wedding.
