As with many spring flowers, the anticipation of the arrival of this flower’s heady, sweetly-scented presence seems to lend itself to the headlong motion of spring. It’s even rumored that some flower shops have special secret customers call lists so that these special enthusiasts can get first notice of the woody-stemmed flower’s arrival! Season: Spring to mid-summer. The warmer the spring, the earlier lilac will bloom!
Colors: Crisp, clean whites and soft, pastel purples to deep blue-purple or pink-purple.
When to Use: When you want ultimate fragrance and lushness or a straight-from-the-garden feel. A decadently draping classic flower that can also easily lend its charm to more modern styles. This flower is definitely more of an honored guest and less of a “type cast” flower.
