Some flowers are just really fun. Luckily for us, astilbe is not only fun, but surprisingly versatile for a wide range of wedding looks. Pronounced uh·stil·bee, these ethereal, feather-like blooms effortlessly infuse whimsy and romance, imparting a touch of rustic and garden allure to wedding floral arrangements.

Whether it’s a modest garden gathering or the regality of a Royal wedding (Meghan Markle carried astilbe in her bridal bouquet!), this flower contributes a captivating blend of height and texture to any arrangement. Its innate beauty perfectly complements the ambiance of garden weddings and rustic vibes.

What sets astilbe apart is its diverse color palette – from serene whites and delicate pinks to vibrant fuchsia, regal purple, and deep red. The flower serves as a versatile canvas, adding texture to monochromatic arrangements or injecting a burst of vibrant color. Picture tall, fluffy plumes reminiscent of Dr. Seuss, harmonizing seamlessly with more conventional blooms like roses and hydrangeas. These unique blooms also introduce a playful ‘pop’ when incorporated into gentlemen’s boutonnieres.

Astilbe Tips and Facts:

Colors: White, pale pink to medium pink, fuchsia, purple, and red.

Season: Available year-round

Pairings: Pairs wonderfully with rounded, “contained” blooms like roses and peonies, as well as with more organic-shaped flowers and greenery.

When to use: Astilbe is beautiful in nearly everything, from bouquets to centerpieces. Probably use sparingly in tall designs, where its wispy qualities might be less appreciated from a distance.
