Colorful Summer for Fairmont Washington DC Wedding

Color was very popular for weddings when Petal’s Edge started 16 years ago. During the last several years, however, people have been far more attracted to classic whites and greens, lots of foliage, and at most a touch of pale, blush tones. It’s not unusual for couples to shy away from color. It’s a bold choice! When doubt creeps in, they trade their vision for something more classic that could exist in any season. This was not the case for Stephanie and Evan. Not only did they want a colorful summer wedding, they wanted touches of glitz to accompany the rich jewel tones for their summer wedding. So how did we glam up the Fairmont Hotel last summer?

Floral Palette

The week of Stephanie and Evan’s wedding, our studio was filled with the most amazingly saturated hues. Buckets of anemone, peonies, phalaenopsis orchids, hydrangea, roses, lisianthus and stock in a profusion of fuchsias and purples took over ever inch of space. A perfect floral palette for a colorful summer wedding in DC! Stephanie’s elegant cascade bouquet was a particular show stopper.

Fairmont Washington DC Wedding Ceremony

For the wedding ceremony, guests arrived to be greeted with a classic and elegant scheme. Pedestals at the entrance to the aisle and Colonnade featured rich jewel-toned garden flowers in elegant gold bowls. At the end of the aisle, we place two large floral arrangements on pedestals.

Vibrant Centerpieces

After the ceremony, guests moved into cocktails, allowing us to transform the room. For this summer wedding, we knew the centerpieces had to feel luxe and impressive! For the head table, we designed the most beautiful and colorful arrangements in our tall gold mercury glass vases. The rest of the tables were broken up into two styles of centerpieces. On half of the tables, an elegant gold glittered manzanita branch was draped in strands of crystals. The base featured a lush design of hydrangea, roses and orchids in rich purples and fuchsia. On the remaining tables, rich purple hydrangea, fuchsia stock, purple lisianthus and more provided a summery but classic touch.

Scenes from holiday pasts and present. While December tends to be a low volume time for weddings, we love the range of things we have gotten to do, from inviting the community into our studio for wreath workshops to helping businesses and hotels decorate with garland, trees and more for the holidays. Do you have a favorite way to decorate?

We will be closing soon for a much needed holiday break. See you in the new year!

MOODY ROMANCE ✨ Daryn & Kelsey’s wedding last weekend was the definition of moody romance. A room glowing in candlelight, black linens setting the stage for elevated greenery hedges kissed 💋 with baby’s breath and dreamy hanging glass globes cradling flickering votives. Black and deep plum tapers paired with glass chimneys added a touch of drama, while the sweetheart table gave our couple the place of honor, accented with lush greenery and flowers in soft mauve and blush.

Every detail felt like it was straight out of a modern fairytale. 🖤 🤍 ✨ What’s your favorite part of this stunning set up?
