Dumbarton House Wedding

Midsummer night's dream at Dumbarton House

With an A-List team of vendors, a beautiful venue, and a gorgeous floral palette, it should be no surprise that Hilary and Colin’s midsummer night’s dream wedding at Dumbarton House has been one of our all-time favorite weddings that we’ve ever produced here at Petal’s Edge!

When we first talked with Hilary and her mother Susan, they had a distinct and unique vision for what they wanted the wedding to look and feel like. Beautiful, of course, but fresh, original, and a wow factor that would leave their guests in awe. The personal flowers featured a delicious floral palette of garden roses, dahlia, ranunculus and more in corals and subdued peaches against classic whites and greens. The warm, citrus hues popped against the bridesmaids’ slate blue dresses.

Their ceremony was held at Dahlgren Chapel on the campus of Georgetown University. The ceremony was simple, focused on the natural architecture and beautiful stained glass of the sanctuary with only the lightest floral ornament on the reserved chairs for family at the front.

It was a true floral installation DAY as our team erected a stunning suspended installation beneath the canopy of the clear-top tent. Lush swooshes of smilax vine hung above the tables and nestled amidst the lights, creating a true feel of a midsummer night’s dream at this Dumbarton House wedding. It was the perfect romantic touch!

Below the suspended greenery, the tables themselves were set with designs overflowing with white hydrangea, peach stock, coral garden roses, peach ranunculus and pops of orange. Actual oranges! Half of the tables featured gold Harlow stands with garden designs with lush greens and flowers. The other half featured gold compote style arrangements with a similar floral palette.

It was such a pleasure bringing this event design to life.

A rooftop celebration that proves timeless can still be bold. For Elaine & Trey’s wedding at Capitol View at 400, we leaned into classic green and white, but elevated it with sculptural greenery installations, gold Harlow stands, and skyline views that stretched for miles. A ceiling of foliage softened the tented space, while sleek black bridesmaid dresses added contrast and edge. Clean, refined, and impossibly romantic.

It’s Bike to Work Day — and while we usually pedal toward petals, we couldn’t resist sharing this creative twist from Elle & Bryan, one of our couples who wheeled their love of cycling straight into the ceremony. 🚲✨

Elle & Bryan’s wedding at Dumbarton House was full of charm, personal touches, and one especially fun nod to their love of cycling. Bicycle wheels became sculptural backdrops, proving that when it comes to personal touches, there’s no such thing as too niche.

Designing florals around unexpected objects? That’s our lane. And yes — it was all uphill in the best possible way.
