Shannon and Jim’s wedding at DAR O’Byrne Gallery last June was resplendent with a palette rich purples and greens, featuring classic garden flowers paired with more unusual accents. You would have thought with how seamlessly the colors and flowers came together that this wedding was a year in the making, but we met Shannon a mere three months before the wedding!
Texture was key for the designs for the wedding at DAR O’Byrne Gallery. The bridal bouquet held classic wedding whites – white peonies, mini-calla lilies and stock – but also incorporated some more unusual elements in both white and brown such as nerine lilies, veronica, scabiosa pods, and fiddleheads. As a nod to Shannon’s grandmother, her mother provided us with a small photo locket to be incorporated into the bouquet. The gardeny mix of flowers carried through the bridesmaids’ bouquets and flower girl pomander. Even the boutonnieres used poppy seed pods with berries and fiddlehead!
A simple ceremony on the portico was followed by an outdoor cocktail hour. Linens alternated between purples and greens, with simple designs of hydrangea. We loved the playful contrast of colors! It really contributed to garden feel for the DAR O’Byrne Gallery wedding.
The reception tables for the garden wedding at DAR’s elegant O’Byrne Gallery each held centerpieces in classic garden urns – some a single garden urn and others a trio of smaller urns – each filled with purple flowers punctuated with more eclectic, organic accents such as coxcomb, baby artichokes, pods, berries, and succulents. Green hanging amaranthus and purple clematis vine added loose and draping elements.
