Classic Wedding at Airlie Center

Classic Wedding at Airlie Center

Are you ready for this classic wedding at Airlie Center? Located amidst the rolling hills of the Virginia countryside, Airlie Center features modern accommodations paired with historic charm. When Alison and Matt began their wedding planning, it was with a very different venue and aesthetic in mind. Switching their venue in order to have more flexibility with current restrictions changed things. The Smokehouse at Airlie Center was a far cry from downtown chic hotel atmosphere originally planned for, but it did provide for different decor opportunities.

Romantic, simple and elegant were words Alison used to describe the wedding. From striking black-and-white bouquet of anemone, peonies, eggplant calla lilies and roses, to the sleek and simple bridesmaids’ bouquets, the color palette was restrained by striking.

After the tumult of the prior year, a little rain wasn’t going to stop this classic wedding at Airlie Center. Armed with clear umbrellas, the wedding party made it’s way to the manor house for the ceremony. It was a change from the garden gazebo, but still elegant and romantic with a classic urn centered against the window for the ceremony.

The Smokehouse tent served as the reception locale. To soften the lines of the tent and introduce an organic element, the crosspieces were dressed with smilax foliage. Gold mercury glass bowls held elegant centerpieces of classic white blooms accented with black-eyed white anemone.

We loved working with Alison and Matt, and with them many years of happiness!

The Smokehouse is definitely a fave spot at Airlie, but have you seen what a wedding on the other side of the property looks like? Look no further than Jaclynn & Brian’s nuptials.

A rooftop celebration that proves timeless can still be bold. For Elaine & Trey’s wedding at Capitol View at 400, we leaned into classic green and white, but elevated it with sculptural greenery installations, gold Harlow stands, and skyline views that stretched for miles. A ceiling of foliage softened the tented space, while sleek black bridesmaid dresses added contrast and edge. Clean, refined, and impossibly romantic.

It’s Bike to Work Day — and while we usually pedal toward petals, we couldn’t resist sharing this creative twist from Elle & Bryan, one of our couples who wheeled their love of cycling straight into the ceremony. 🚲✨

Elle & Bryan’s wedding at Dumbarton House was full of charm, personal touches, and one especially fun nod to their love of cycling. Bicycle wheels became sculptural backdrops, proving that when it comes to personal touches, there’s no such thing as too niche.

Designing florals around unexpected objects? That’s our lane. And yes — it was all uphill in the best possible way.
