Bohemian Retro Wedding

Lindsey and Taylor’s adorable bohemian retro wedding featured vibrant bursts of color that graced their special day. Set against the backdrop of spring’s arrival, the floral arrangements truly captured the essence of bohemian retro charm.

Lindsey, the beautiful bride, carried a bouquet that was a true masterpiece. It boasted a luscious mix of coral peonies, peach stock, and orange ranunculus, creating a stunning blend of warm hues. To add an exotic touch, we incorporated pin cushion protea and mokara orchids, which added both texture and pops of vibrant color. Blue-green echevaria succulents added a unique element, while burlap tied around the stems brought a rustic touch, perfectly complementing the bohemian theme.

The bridesmaids’ bouquets were equally captivating, designed to harmonize with Lindsey’s bouquet. Each bouquet featured coral godetia, peach stock, orange ranunculus, and orchids, creating a cohesive color palette that radiated joy and energy and contrasted beautifully against the mint dresses. We added coral parrot tulips and succulents to infuse a touch of whimsy and natural beauty. As the bridesmaids walked down the aisle, these bouquets added a vibrant pop of color against their retro-inspired dresses.

For the boutonnieres, we aimed for simplicity while staying true to the bohemian retro aesthetic. Mokara orchid blossoms took center stage, exuding elegance and refinement. To enhance the rustic vibe, we finished each boutonniere with rustic twine, adding a touch of organic charm to the groom and groomsmen’s attire.

Blooming branches – that harbinger of new beginnings, a flower whose very appearance serves as the epitaph to winter. But that sweet symbolism isn’t the only reason we love them!

Very few botanical elements feature both soft edges AND the jutting architecture of flowering branches. As floral designers, we adore the juxtaposition of soft, demure pastels with their sheer height and commanding presence. There’s just something about that that just screams wedding, don’t you think?

So don’t be afraid to branch out and get creative. Blooming branches look spectacular in weddings – in everything from ceremony arches to reception decor – and create a big impactful look.

Today’s centerpieces have multiple elements, loads of candles, things that have to be assembled and even built on-site. And yet the presumption persists that the florist is just going to show up with a box that can be left in the corner for someone else to place on the table.

Putting aside the fact that we take far more pride in our work than that… to say that we value logistics and planning is an understatement!! And logistics are truly our skill set. We can tell you how many man hours a particular installation will take and can design for efficiency. It’s truly our super power.

Most floral design relies on other things being in place. Not useful? “You can get into the room at this time.” Actually useful? “The bar you’re building that cascading piece on will in place no later than X o’clock.” But more than that? Start realizing that event demands are not what they used to be.

We were at the Willard InterContinental this past weekend setting up for Mari`s bridal shower. Think pink, gardeny, everything spring.⁣

The Crystal Room is always a lot of look. Those green marble columns, the chandeliers... and yet it`s so quintessentially DC! There`s something about that room that makes pink feel completely at home.⁣

It took us straight back to Sophia & Daniel`s wedding ceremony in the same space. Pink baby`s breath, roses, the whole thing. Two totally different events, same magic. Pink and the Crystal Room? We`re convinced it`s a love story. 💚🌸⁣
