The first thing we remember learning about Amanda and Eli, when we met with the bride and her mother, was that they had just moved to Michigan! Despite the challenge of distance, they pulled the wedding together quickly and simply, the beauty of the day not spoiled in the least by circumstance. Amanda wanted modern simplicity and loved hydrangea. And a blue hydrangea Press Club wedding was born!
Amanda liked clean lines and a little romance for her bouquet. She carried sleek white mini-calla lilies accented with light pink Sweet Eskimo roses. The bridesmaids carried simple white mini-calla lilies. Eli sported a white mini-calla lily boutonniere accented with bear grass.
The ceremony took place at the National Press Club. An elegant ivory pipe and drape chuppah provided the focal point for the ceremony. Tall silver mercury glass vases lined the aisle, each topped with an impressive design of light blue hydrangea.
For the reception, the tall designs from the ceremony were paired with mercury glass bowls, each with a simple design of light blue hydrangea. For the long head table, silver mercury glass mint julep cups held poufs of light blue hydrangea. And of course why interrupt the scheme for the cake? Light blue hydrangea of course! Which just goes to show that it doesn’t have to be complicated to be pretty. A clean, modern elegance made this wedding a show stopper all on its own.
