Vintage was the word of the day for Gretchen and Tom’s wedding, and Thomas Birkby House in Leesburg is the perfect place for such a look. The Birkby House wedding ceremony, held in the back garden, used the site’s wrought iron arch as a centerpiece. Every once and a while we have an event where the design comes together so perfectly – and the couple is so happy and are such lovely people – that instead of just wanting to go home and have a drink after setting up, we want to stay for the wedding. This was one of those weddings.

Gretchen supplied all of the assorted containers for the reception florals for her Birkby House wedding, mostly flea market finds, and family heirlooms, giving it that personal touch that so many people are looking for in their weddings. Bright shades of peach, coral, and pink were a perfect compliment to a warm, end of the summer event.

Brentsville Hall was transformed with hundreds of candles lining the aisle for Daryn & Kelsey’s wedding. Black draping swagged from the ceiling and the ceremony backdrop providing the perfect moody winter touch! But that’s not all! Candles brought main character energy to the reception - on tables, in glass globes suspended from floating greenery centerpieces, and casting a romantic glow.

As much as we love manifesting sunshine, as we like to say, the best way to put off rain is a rain plan you’re happy with. The thoughtful plan is how you protect the vibe and your sanity. The flowers? They’re actually okay with a few drops of rain. We’ve seen too many gorgeous moments saved by a calm pivot. And best of all, dry guests are happy guests.
