Located in downtown DC on historic Farragut Square, the Army and Navy Club has been the prestigious home away from home for some of the most illustrious names in American military and political history and holds one of the oldest private libraries in the District of Columbia. The private, members only Club offers an atmosphere of timeless elegance for any wedding.
This past spring we had the honor of designing and producing Denise and Neil’s romantic Army and Navy Club wedding. This was just our third wedding at the Army and Navy Club and the ballroom was the perfect complement to the classic white and blush color scheme. Surrounded on three sides by dark wood panelling, it was the perfect backdrop to the reception. Many of our favorite spring blooms, including peonies, ranunculus, and campanula, made their way into the floral palette.
The bride’s bouquet featured lush, white peonies, blush Pink Mondial roses, white stock wisps of pale pink astilbe, and a complement of ruscus and umbrella fern foliage. The groom wore a white ranunculus blossom accented with umbrella fern.
The ceremony took place in St. Aloysius church, one of our favorite Catholic churches in DC. The altar of the bright, light-filled space was accented by two stately ceremony arrangements atop an elegant white urns. Draping ivy and shades of blush roses accented the front pews.
The reception tables consisted of two styles of centerpieces. The first featured a collection of small glass cylinder vases filled with greenery and blush and white flowers. The second was a large, elevated design atop a glass pilsner vase. While designed in a similar color palette, the style was organic and slightly asymmetrical to convey a gardeny aesthetic. Lastly the sweetheart table featured a garland of ruscus foliage accented with glass-enclosed taper candles.
