Designing a Bridal Bouquet
One of our favorite things at Petal’s Edge is working with couples to design their wedding day – and the first thing on that list is the bridal bouquet! The bride’s bouquet can set the tone for the whole day. Even for our smallest weddings – elopements and mini-weddings – the bride’s bouquet is truly the must have, don’t-DIY-this element. Whether classic and timeless or rustic or modern, the bridal bouquet should reflect your personal style. We aim most of all to complement your best qualities, whether in the size, shape or style of the bouquet.
What Is Your Style?
You’ve probably thought about the style of your wedding when choosing your wedding gown. A sleek satin dress benefits from the clean, modern lines of a natural cascade of elegant phalaenopsis orchids. A full ball gown? How about a tailored design of fluffy peonies, with or without touches of greenery. A fitted lace dress begs for rich texture and lots of greenery. A gown with pattern and texture especially should be complemented by and not feel like it is competing with the bouquet, so a tone-on-tone design would work best here. Ultimately, though, it is up to you what your bouquet will look like. Having an overall vision for the wedding day will help inform the choices you make for your ideal bouquet.
Designing for Timeless Elegance
There are a few questions that help with how to think about the design of your bouquet. What is the overall look or style you have in mind? How do you feel about color? For a classic design, you might be thinking of a white bouquet with touches of greenery. Each season suggests an array of different flowers that might be used to create this kind of style. Deep green foliage suggests winter, while dusty sage hues befit fall. Wispy and pale greens perfectly complement spring. The good thing about white bouquets though is you’ll never look back and think “what was I thinking?”
The Tasteful Yet Colorful Bouquet
A great way to tie together a wedding scheme is by adding color to the bride’s bouquet. It’s not unusual for brides to shy away from color, but we say if it’s something you love, then it’s completely appropriate! Whether it’s just a touch of color or a fully saturated design, a colorful bouquet really stands out and is a show stopper
Your Bouquet, Your Style
Above all, regardless of the style of bouquet you choose, it should first and foremost embrace what you love. Don’t worry if it’s something you have seen on Pinterest or not. Your preferences make the bouquet personal, from color to shape to style. If a unique shape fits your style, go for it!
