2021 Pantone Color of the Year: Illuminating + Ultimate Gray Wedding Inspiration

2021 Pantone Color of the Year: Illuminating + Ultimate Gray Wedding Inspiration

Pantone announced Illuminating + Ultimate Gray as the 2021 Pantone Color of the Year. When ever Pantone presents TWO colors together, a “marriage” of concepts, we can’t help but think it’s wedding perfect from the get-go!

Yellow is bright and cheerful, a color that anticipates what will happen next. And there are SOOOO many flowers available in yellow! Yellow tulips and ranunculus in the spring, yellow roses and dahlia in these summer. Bring me all the yellow coxcomb in the fall!  Gray, on the other hand, represents warmth and dependability (and it’s a fabulous color for men’s suits, bridesmaids’ dresses, linens, and more!). And while the high contrast between these warm and cool hues lend themselves to a modern treatment, there’s no reason it isn’t just as suited for a garden look, something wild, or even a classic design.

Enjoy a little wedding Ultimate Gray + Illuminating wedding inspiration below! My personal favorite is the bright-hued bouquet of yellow pin cushion protea. But what about those gray succulents? How gorgeous are those stunning yellow forsythia branches!?  I certainly wouldn’t mind those long tables with the gray and white linens and pops of yellow. Oh the possibilities… Will Illuminating + Ultimate Gray inspire your wedding color palette?

Industrial spaces have a beauty of their own, but the right floral design can take them from warehouse to urban garden. 🌿✨

For Laura & Michael’s Dock 5 wedding, we played with scale—tall magnolia branches to emphasize the height, lush florals to soften the space, and candlelight to add warmth. The result? An urban oasis that felt both grand and intimate.

1️⃣Go Big with Greenery – Tall magnolia branches brought height and movement to Laura & Michael’s Dock 5 wedding

2️⃣ Mix Textures – Lush, low floral arrangements softened the industrial edges while keeping the space dynamic

3️⃣ Layer Candlelight – Warm glows + metal details = a romantic urban oasis

4️⃣ Frame Key Spaces – A floral garland on the head table grounded the design and added intimacy. Trees flanking the table took it to the next level

5️⃣ Contrast is Key – Pairing the raw, industrial elements with soft florals and organic details created the perfect balance

Not all green and white floral palettes are created equal. This one here will NEVER go out of style and is truly as timeless as they come! Magnolia, eucalyptus, rosemary, and delicate touches of white… Add velvet linens and gold touches, and we’re smitten... 😍
