Nestled in the heart of Embassy Row and a stone’s throw from Dupont Circle, Anderson House is a historic Beaux-Arts mansion. By its nature, an Anderson House wedding in DC is naturally a bit opulent and classic in style, something Alex and John wanted their decor to reflect.
The bridal bouquet was in classic whites and ivories, using peonies, ivory garden roses, white lilac, white astilbe, pearl-studded stephanotis blossoms and white freesia accented with maidenhair fern and camelia foliage. Bridesmaids in lavender or pale pink carried lush bouquets of ivory roses and spray roses, white stock, white freesia, and white astilbe accented with maidenhair fern and camellia foliage. The boutonnieres were designed with white freesia from the bridal bouquet, and accented with camelia foliage. The ring bearer wore a smaller boutonniere of ivory spray roses.
Is there anything sweeter than a bridal party including flower girls and a ring bearer? The trio of flower girls, crowned in baby’s breath, each carried charming baskets with iconic ivory rose petals to pave the aisle for Alex.
Flanking the ceremony area were two striking altar arrangements on pedestals. The lush, rounded arrangements featured white hydrangea, white stock, ivory roses and spray roses, and white larkspur accented with lemon leaf foliage.
Situated around the edge of the reflecting pool in picturesque Hoyt Garden, lanterns were placed at each of the four corners with votive candles ringing the ledge. To complement the ornate ballroom, centerpieces were kept low on the tables. The first design featured a glass-footed bowl holding a richly textured design of white hydrangea, white stock, ivory roses and spray roses, white astilbe, and white lisianthus accented with maidenhair fern and camelia foliage. On the remaining tables, a glass cylinder vase with an ivory pillar candle was ringed with a lush wreath design using white hydrangea, white stock, ivory roses and spray roses, white freesia, and white lisianthus finished with green touches of maidenhair fern and camelia foliage.
