Vibrant Fall Wedding at the Mayflower Hotel

Vibrant Fall Wedding at the Mayflower Hotel

It’s always a pleasure when we get to work with families again, and this was very much the case with Kate and Nick’s vibrant fall Mayflower wedding. We had worked with Kate’s sister, Christine, on the flowers for her wedding three years prior, and their mother worked with our accountant. Small world!

Kate and Nick chose a palette of soft oranges, peaches and pinks for the wedding, with the color then amped up a notch for the reception. Kate carried a classic, white bouquet of roses, mini-calla lilies, and cymbidium and dendrobium orchids, the lip of pink on the orchids adding a touch of color to the bouquet. In contrast to the bridal bouquet, the bridesmaids bouquets were rich in sorbet toned orchids, calla lilies, lisianthus, roses, and spray roses. The vibrant color palette was carried through in the ceremony decor at St. John’s Church.

The Grand Ballroom is a stately place to have a reception, with a two-story height, grand chandeliers and ornate fixtures throughout. The vibrant fall Mayflower wedding took advantage of these features with tall designs on half the table. Each featured hot pink and orange mokara orchids, larkspur, snapdragons, and hints of curly willow branches, while for the low designs, a gold bowl held lush, textured hot pink and orange hydrangea, stock, roses, dahlia, and calla lilies – both designs a blend of classic and contemporary.  Wedding flowers in shades of pink and orange crowned the top of the cake with additional clusters strategically placed on the tiers.

Spring couples, this one’s for you! 🌸 ✨

If you’re saying “I do” in the season of fresh blooms, you’re in for a floral treat. Spring brings some of the dreamiest and most delicate flowers- and they need a little extra love to stay looking their best! Here’s how to make the most of them:

🌷Spring flowers belong to spring for a reason! This is the best time to use them. These fleeting beauties thrive in cooler temps but can struggle in summer heat. Now’s the time to lean in!

💦 Hydration is key. Sweet pea, lilac and ranunculus are absolute spring stunners, but they’re fragile. Work with a florist who knows how to care for them (hi, that’s us! 👋)

💛 Embrace the color wonderland. Spring isn’t just for pastels. From golden daffodils and coral peonies to soft hues of lilac and viburnum, there’s a joyful palette for you.

The key to gorgeous spring flowers? The right blooms, the right care and a florist who knows how to handle them. 😉

Stuck on your floral color palette? Don’t stress - we’ve got you covered! Choosing colors for your wedding can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Here’s three easy tips to get started:

1. Look in your closet. Seriously! You know more about color theory than you think. Some colors just click together - and click with you! Think about the colors you wear & love.

2. Grab a color wheel for inspiration. Play around with ideas. Mix and match until you see a palette that makes your heart skip a beat. Need to see more colors? Paint swatches can help make the process visual.

3. Build out your palette. All colors don’t have to be in your flowers only. Think of flowers, linens, paper products, even candles as your cast. Once you have 2-3 main colors, layer in complementary tones to add depth. Love blush? Add mauve and peach for a romantic vibe!
