Where to start! Alex and Andrew’s stunning May wedding at The Alexandrian Hotel in Old Town Alexandria was filled with so many dreamy details. The soft, romantic floral palette of lavenders, whites and greens perfectly complemented the elegance of their courtyard ceremony and reception. From the whimsical floral arrangements to the thoughtful details, this wedding was a true celebration of love, color, and style.
The Alexandrian Hotel is situated in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. Surrounded by cobblestone streets, quaint shops, and rich history, the location offers a picturesque backdrop for photos and easy access to local attractions for out-of-town guests. It is a gem of a local wedding venue, blending historic charm with modern amenities. We love when couples opt for an outdoor ceremony in the hotel’s courtyard with its intimate, garden-like feel. It becomes especially magical with the addition of a clear top tent, as was the case for Alex and Andrew’s wedding.
Alex’s bridal bouquet was a true masterpiece, featuring shades of lilac and white, with a beautiful combination of lilac, sweet pea, and roses. The soft hues and lush textures perfectly complemented her elegant look and tied seamlessly into the overall color palette of the day. Andrew and his groomsmen wore classic boutonnieres made with touches of greenery, adding a subtle yet elegant pop of color to their attire.
The ceremony took place in the heart of The Alexandrian Hotel’s courtyard, where we created a serene and whimsical atmosphere. The focal point was the two altar arrangements in classic urns, filled with a lush design of lemon leaf, ruscus and eucalyptus foliage accented with classic garden blooms. The addition of tall stems of purple allium to classic choices – white hydrangea, white stock, lavender spray roses, white lisianthus and purple larkspur – added a playful yet sophisticated touch. The fresh spring air, combined with the fragrant blooms, created an unforgettable setting for Alex and Andrew’s “I do’s.”
After the ceremony, the courtyard was transformed for a stylish reception. When Alex first shared the stunning “Terra Violet” linen from Stradley Davidson Linen Collection she had selected, we know the head table would be the centerpiece of the evening. The patterned floral linen perfectly tied together the color palette. We adorned the table with a lush tablescape of compotes, white ceramic bud vases, and petite pin frog centerpieces filled with a mix of l. Taper candles in shades of lavender and spring green added a soft, romantic glow, making the entire setup feel warm and inviting. For the remaining tables, we designed lush compote arrangements with a mix of lavender and white florals, accented with spring greenery. The blend of colors and textures created a cohesive look that was both sophisticated and whimsical, perfectly reflecting the couple’s style and the season.
From the moment Alex and Andrew said “I do” to their first dance under the stars, every detail of their wedding at The Alexandrian Hotel was carefully crafted to reflect their love story. The blend of historic charm and modern elegance provided the perfect backdrop for this unforgettable day, making The Alexandrian Hotel a top choice for couples seeking a wedding venue in Alexandria, VA.
Whether you’re planning your own celebration or just dreaming of a magical wedding day, The Alexandrian Hotel offers the perfect setting for a memorable event. With its historic charm and versatile spaces, it’s no wonder why so many couples choose to tie the knot here.
