Summer River Farm Wedding

Summer River Farm Wedding

This summer wedding at River Farm was one of the first “repeat” weddings that we designed since the start of the pandemic, and it was every bit as epic as you would expect! If having their 2020 wedding plans compromised by the pandemic wasn’t enough, their original wedding venue was sold! A summer River Farm wedding, though, turned out to be the perfect mood for Caitlin and Sean’s celebration.

Caitlin and Sean did, in fact, have a stylish covid wedding before a small crowd of close family and friends on their original wedding date. But what had initially been a fall celebration at the Carnegie Institute, a venue noteworthy for its architectural features, became a summer fete amidst lush gardens with dinner under the tent. Noteworthy details from their big day include a fabulous floral arch for the ceremony, whimsical flowers skirting the cocktail tables, two distinct centerpiece designs and a lush sweetheart table arrangement. To lend a more summery feel to the burgundy hues, we introduced coral garden roses and blush pink dahlia as well as brighter green foliages like geranium leaf and ruscus. We used hundreds of blooms to construct the arch and with our team’s characteristic super efficiency, our team finished the installation in under an hour, which was an impressive feat in the summer heat!

Did you spy the DC Metro-theme and love it as much as we do? Check out the whole feature in the DCist.

A rooftop celebration that proves timeless can still be bold. For Elaine & Trey’s wedding at Capitol View at 400, we leaned into classic green and white, but elevated it with sculptural greenery installations, gold Harlow stands, and skyline views that stretched for miles. A ceiling of foliage softened the tented space, while sleek black bridesmaid dresses added contrast and edge. Clean, refined, and impossibly romantic.

It’s Bike to Work Day — and while we usually pedal toward petals, we couldn’t resist sharing this creative twist from Elle & Bryan, one of our couples who wheeled their love of cycling straight into the ceremony. 🚲✨

Elle & Bryan’s wedding at Dumbarton House was full of charm, personal touches, and one especially fun nod to their love of cycling. Bicycle wheels became sculptural backdrops, proving that when it comes to personal touches, there’s no such thing as too niche.

Designing florals around unexpected objects? That’s our lane. And yes — it was all uphill in the best possible way.
