Every wedding makes a statement. Choices in style, color and more make each event unique to the couple hosting and being celebrated. In the case of Ever and Evan’s statement wedding at Decatur House, the wedding party made a literal statement with portraits at the Supreme Court. Ever and her bridesmaids stood in front of the Supreme Court holding signs that together read, “Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.” We love to nod to both Ever and Evan’s legal backgrounds on their wedding day.
Ever and Evan’s original nuptial plans, like many this year, began with plans in 2019. An elegant event initially planned for August of 2020 became an event for May 2021, and then finally an August 2021 event. Not only the date changed. Originally planned for a museum setting, in navigating the ever changing landscape of safety, the couple opted to move their festivities to Decatur House, where the reception would take place under tent.
The day began with classic white bouquets and boutonnieres accented with beautiful touches of dusty green eucalyptus and dusty miller. The ceremony took place at National City Christian Church. A mix of elevated and low designs featuring gold stands and containers brought the reception tent to life. White hydrangea, roses, spray roses, lisianthus, dahlia, and multiple types of greenery were used throughout the space. And finally, adding a warm glow to the tent at Decatur House, floating candles on each of the tables brought everything together.
