This past July, we had the absolute pleasure of bringing Katherine and Johnathan’s floral dreams to life at their joyous and elegant wedding at the stunning St. Francis Hall. From the very beginning, they described their St. Francis Hall Washington DC wedding vision with three simple words: joyous, organic, and elegant, and every flower we selected was carefully chosen to bring those feelings to life. The design was all about lush, wildflower-inspired arrangements in rich, summery hues that felt both timeless and playful, perfectly matching the energy of their love-filled day.
St. Francis Hall: A Beautiful Blend of History and Charm
Nestled within Washington, D.C., St. Francis Hall is a hidden gem of a wedding venue. The exposed brick, romantic archways, and expansive windows give the space an old-world elegance that felt perfectly in tune with Katherine and Johnathan’s vision. The venue’s gorgeous courtyard provided a stunning backdrop for post-ceremony photos, and the hall itself, with its soaring ceilings, allowed us to get creative with floral arrangements that celebrated both height and texture. If you’re looking for a venue that blends historic charm with a touch of European-inspired beauty, St. Francis Hall is the perfect place to say “I do.”
Wildflower-Inspired Elegance
Katherine’s bridal bouquet set the tone for the day with its blend of Pink Xpression garden roses, chamomile daisies, peach stock, pink dahlia, pink lisianthus, coral snapdragons, and light blue delphinium. Hand-tied in the classic French style, the bouquet had a richly textured and airy feel, finished with soft baptisia and parvifolia foliage. The bouquet embodied the organic elegance Katherine was after, with its vibrant yet soft palette of pinks, peaches, oranges, yellows, and blues. The ivory double-faced satin ribbon wrapping the stems added a final touch of sophistication.
The maid of honor’s bouquet mirrored Katherine’s but in a smaller, simpler design, tied with a pale green satin ribbon for a complementary yet understated look. The groom, not to be outdone, sported a boutonniere featuring light blue delphinium accented with touches of baptisia and solidago, creating a refined yet organic detail that complemented his ensemble perfectly.
Organic Details with Elegant Flourishes
St. Francis Hall’s ceremony space was made even more magical by lining the aisle with delicate chair posies. Small bouquets of peach stock, light blue delphinium, and pink spray roses tied with white satin ribbons added a soft, summery vibe to each chair, gently guiding Katherine down the aisle toward her forever.
At the entry tables, medium-height wildflower-inspired arrangements greeted guests with a burst of vibrant pinks, peaches, oranges, yellows, and blues, setting the tone for the evening ahead. These lush designs, full of texture and movement, echoed the natural elegance that infused every floral element of the wedding.
A Vibrant Celebration in Color
For the reception, we created a floral moment that celebrated summer in full bloom. The buffet table featured a tall, wildflower-inspired centerpiece in rich hues of corals, oranges, peaches, pinks, yellows, and blues, adorned with abundant greenery to give the design an organic, garden-fresh feel. We used clear compotes filled with an eclectic mix of wildflowers to bring pops of color to every guest table, while glass-enclosed taper candles in pale blues, pinks, creamy yellows, and peaches complemented the blooms for an intimate, candlelit glow.
At the family tables, we placed bud vases filled with a vibrant assortment of summer blooms, ensuring that each table felt uniquely styled but still cohesive. These smaller vases allowed us to play with color and texture, while the flickering candlelight brought an elegant warmth to the evening.
From the moment we met with Katherine and Johnathan, we knew their wedding would be one to remember. Their vision of a joyous, organic, and elegant day came to life in every floral detail, and it was such an honor to help them celebrate their love with flowers as vibrant as their personalities.
As the summer sun set on St. Francis Hall, the glow of candlelight and the lush wildflowers created a breathtaking ambiance that their guests won’t soon forget. Congratulations, Katherine and Johnathan, on your joyous and love-filled day!
