Rustic Wedding at Lincoln’s Cottage

Leah and Josh’s rustic wedding at Lincoln’s Cottage in Washington, DC blended romance with rustic whimsy. The historic site and museum is situated on a 250-acre campus where President Lincoln made some of his most nation-changing decisions and developed the Emancipation Proclamation. Isn’t it amazing that we can have places like this right here in DC AND make use of it to create our own personal histories? We were very excited to design a wedding here. With an unusual fall color palette and several whimsical decor elements, Leah and Josh’s wedding was a perfect for Petal’s Edge to create at this stunning venue.

Leah & Josh’s Wedding

The personal flowers were designed in a soft, muted palette of lavenders and whites with accents of deep plum and sage green. Among the featured blooms were lavender Cool Water and Early Gray roses, lavender spray roses, mauve astrantia, white astilbe, purple-throated Picasso mini-calla lilies, Queen Anne’s lace, and unexpected touches of bleached ruscus accented with seeded eucalyptus foliage. The woman attendants on both sides of the wedding party carried beautiful bouquets of Creme de la Creme and ivory Vendela roses, ivory spray roses, white astilbe, Queen Anne’s lace and accents of pale lavender Early Gray roses, purple lisianthus, and mauve astrantia finished with touches of seeded eucalyptus and bleached ruscus foliage. Each bouquet was hand-tied with either navy blue or charcoal ribbon, a smart and tailored contrast to the softness of the flowers. Josh’s boutonnière was designed to center on a single, perfect white rose accented with white astilbe and seeded eucalyptus, while the other gentlemen wore boutonnières of purple lisianthus.

Jewish Ceremony for Rustic Wedding at Lincoln’s Cottage

The ceremony for this rustic wedding at Lincoln’s Cottage showcased a beautiful birch chuppah covered with an organic design of baby’s breath climbing up the front poles and across the front valance. The design was further accented with bleached ruscus and sparing touches of seeded eucalyptus, clusters of bleached bell cups, and lavender roses, purple lisianthus, purple astrantia, and plum-colored smokebush foliage for added color and texture. The chairs lining either side of the aisle, finished with petite bouquets of white and mauve astilbe with seeded eucalyptus foliage. Greeting guests at the entrance to the aisle were two sets of lanterns filled with baby’s breath and fairy lights.

Tent Reception

For this rustic wedding at Lincoln’s Cottage, the reception took place outdoors in a tent. Each table displayed a rustic birch bark pot. The container was filled with a lush, textured design of purple hydrangea, purple stock, roses in varying shades of lavender, purple lisianthus, white astilbe, mauve astrantia, Queen Anne’s lace, and accents of plum smokebush, sage seeded eucalyptus and bleached ruscus foliage. A petite version graced the couple’s sweetheart table

Congratsulations to Leah and Josh – your sweet, romantic wedding was a pleasure to be part of, and we wish you all the best!

It’s Bike to Work Day — and while we usually pedal toward petals, we couldn’t resist sharing this creative twist from Elle & Bryan, one of our couples who wheeled their love of cycling straight into the ceremony. 🚲✨

Elle & Bryan’s wedding at Dumbarton House was full of charm, personal touches, and one especially fun nod to their love of cycling. Bicycle wheels became sculptural backdrops, proving that when it comes to personal touches, there’s no such thing as too niche.

Designing florals around unexpected objects? That’s our lane. And yes — it was all uphill in the best possible way.

A night of mystery and masquerade — and the perfect way to fête the 10th anniversary of The Scout Guide Alexandria and the launch of Vol. 10! ✨

We loved adding our signature touch of floral drama to this year’s launch party at the Hotel Heron. From a moody and dramatic entrance piece to a flower-filled car, sculptural arrangements on cocktail tables and elevated bar arrangements casting feathered shadows and moody textures, this event let us play in a world of whimsy and wonder.

We’re proud to be part of a guide that champions small businesses and celebrates creativity in our community. Supporting local means investing in the makers, doers, and dreamers who make Alexandria vibrant — and The Scout Guide does just that, beautifully. Cheers to Vol. 10! Special thanks to Sarah and Claire for always being so supportive and encouraging.
