Michelle and Keith were married on an unbelievably perfect day in October in Old Town Alexandria. When the couple’s original plans were up ended, they needed to look no further than their own backyard for the perfect spot to celebrate with family and friends. The poolside wedding reception at home was the perfect way to realize the casual, wildflower vibes they had in mind.
Michelle’s carried a stunning, colorful bouquet rich in texture. The loose, French hand-tied bouquet featured delicate stock, delphinium, thistle, craspedia, solidago, chamomile daisies, and astrantia blooms in shades of white, blue and yellow finished with touches of eucalyptus foliage.
The ceremony took place right on the Old Town waterfront at the E/F Pier Gazebo overlooking the Potomac River. Creating a focal point for the ceremony was a low ring of wildflowers. Larkspur, delphinium, daisies, solidago, yarrow and more created an intimate feel for the ceremony. The gentle breeze coming off the water caused a gentle sway in the flowers as they framed Michelle and Keith for the ceremony. White flower boxes were filled with similar blooms, holding down their sign. Fresh eucalyptus foliage accented the charcuterie platters prepared by the bride’s sister, providing guest with a feast following the nuptials before they traveled to the couple’s home for the celebration.
The poolside wedding reception at home followed the waterside ceremony. What better place to continue the festivities! With the pool as the centerpiece, floating designs were created in the couple’s wedding palette. The pool was ringed with votive candles, which lit up the night as darkness descended.
It was such a pleasure working with Michelle and Keith to make their wedding every bit as joyous as it should be, despite the challenges current events posed.
