Shades of Blue
Lush and romantic. These were the words Rosemary used to describe the feel she wanted for her wedding to Jason. The couple wanted a fresh design with rich textures and pops of gorgeous blues. Fluffy blooms like peonies, hydrangea, and ranunculus were mixed with delphinium, tweedia, and eucalyptus.
Rosemary’s bouquet was filled with peonies, roses, lisianthus, stock, spray roses, and astilbe in classic whites and a touch of light blue delphinium and eucalyptus foliage. The men’s boutonnieres featured white ranunculus blossoms, with Jason wearing a white rose accented with blue delphinium. The bridesmaids carried simpler, smaller bouquets that contrasted with their navy dresses.
Classic Ceremony
The ceremony took place at St. Stephen Martyr, not far from the Park Hyatt Hotel. Clutches of wedding flowers in whites and blue graced the pews, each finished with a navy satin ribbon. The shades of blue in the ceremony arrangement flanking the altar picked up on the beautiful blues of the stained glass in the sanctuary.
Reception
When designing a wedding, the first thing we talk about with clients is how they want the wedding to feel, particularly the reception. What elements do you want to play up? Where do you want the focus to be? How should the room feel? The Park Hyatt Hotel in DC is a gorgeous space for a wedding and beautiful on its own. Though the room has beautiful chandeliers and a stunning ceiling height, the draping around the perimeter of the room can also create a cozy and intimate feel. These details, along with the public spaces of the hotel, make the venue such a hit!
The feel for this wedding was decidedly intimate. A muted blue was mixed classic white and ivory blooms for the centerpieces. The god mercury glass detail of the vases added another gorgeous texture. The sweetheart table featured a lush design for the front. And for the final piece de resistance, the four tiered cake was graced with wedding blooms on each tier.
