Ringing in the New Year with a rich, robust red!
Limited to a Sicilian seaport and a popular culinary wine no longer, marsala now bears the honorary title of pantone color of 2015! This ruddy, vintage red knocks on neutral’s door and stands on the threshold between ravishing and reserved. Marsala has an air of ruddy complexions, hearty constitutions, and the promise of fertility. It tells tales of an ancient sort. Of dusty red earth; of the cooling of the mountain range as the sun sets. Maybe that’s a little too deep, but it really does speak to the humanity in us.
In linens, dresses, and flowers alike, this color is wonderfully versatile! Pair with off-black or grey for sleek sophistication. Marsala with a side of cream, beige, or gold is sure to invoke a classic feel. Red has always been associated the sultry and passionate, so it’s arguably one of the best choices for wedding color schemes. Given marsala’s stance as a more toned-down red-brown (think wine stain on a pearl gray tweed), it really has the capacity for whole new levels of color scheme complexity – which equals memorability for your celebration. Who knew the numbers 18-1438 could be so sexy?
As we close out 2014, may we look to this full-bodied red and dream of rosy cheeks, hearty meals, and the good fortune of sharing holidays with the ones we hold closest to our hearts.
