2020 was without a doubt a year of challenges. And while on the surface, the pictures reflect only Leah and Matt’s romantic Mount Vernon Inn wedding, it was a wedding that faced one of the biggest challenges of the year. While the first wave of closures was definitely harrowing, we all thought by that fall things were safely proceeding. Smaller, masked, outdoors – whatever the set of rules was. But the week of Leah and Matt’s wedding, the Virginia governor changed the gathering limit from the ample guest count that had been in place to a limit of 25 people.

The wedding was a testament to the perseverance and professionalism of the wedding industry. The whole team pulled together to make the most of the undeniable disappointment. With the flowers that had already been ordered, we channeled our efforts into fulfilling the couple’s wish list. Instead of the 13 tables originally planned, we created a dreamy, moon arch in classic whites and greens, something the couple had initially wanted but was out of their budget. It proved to be the most memorable, lush and romantic backdrop for their Mount Vernon Inn wedding. We brought in candles to ramp up the romance, finishing the aisle with a delicate touch of white rose petals.

Leah’s bouquet was everything delicate and lacy and lush. Winter’s best peonies paired with the most juicy white ranunculus, wispy Queen Anne’s lace, white snapdragons, and fluffy pampas grass complemented by a bounty of eucalyptus foliage.

The reception for the romantic Mount Vernon Inn wedding took place in the Verandah Room. Long tables were set with gold chargers and lush, floral runners of hydrangea, roses, stock, and ranunculus in classic whites, accented with Queen Anne’s lace and ruscus and lemon leaf foliage. We contributed to the design, pulling from our inventory of cut glass candlesticks and taper candles to finish the romantic tablescape.

We wish Leah and Matt much happiness in their life together. Despite the challenges, the romantic Mount Vernon Inn wedding showed there was much to hope for.

MOODY ROMANCE ✨ Daryn & Kelsey’s wedding last weekend was the definition of moody romance. A room glowing in candlelight, black linens setting the stage for elevated greenery hedges kissed 💋 with baby’s breath and dreamy hanging glass globes cradling flickering votives. Black and deep plum tapers paired with glass chimneys added a touch of drama, while the sweetheart table gave our couple the place of honor, accented with lush greenery and flowers in soft mauve and blush.

Every detail felt like it was straight out of a modern fairytale. 🖤 🤍 ✨ What’s your favorite part of this stunning set up?
