There are weddings that leave an indelible mark, and Stephanie and Matt’s monochromatic celebration this past spring at the Hotel Monaco Washington, DC, was undoubtedly one of them. The floral palette of black and white allowed us to craft an atmosphere of timeless beauty.
The Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC feature’s architectural period details, such as classic columns and grand dome and skylight, but has also been beautifully modernized with ornate and bold details. All together, the historic venue can also feel like, well, a “lot of look” that many couples can find appealing yet overwhelming. The stark contrast of a black and white was an invitation to create something truly extraordinary.
Stephanie’s bouquet was a masterpiece in classic simplicity itself. An exquisite French hand-tied bouquet, it featured monochromatic whites and greens comprises of ivory garden roses and white roses, each perfectly opened and embraced by a lush collar of lemon leaf and Italian ruscus foliage. Matt’s boutonniere echoed this theme, featuring a pristine white rose complemented by subtle accents of Italian ruscus.
The ceremony was an intimate affair, held in the Monaco‘s traditional 3/4 in-the-round style beneath the skylit dome. As guests approached the ceremony rotunda, they were greeted by pillars of graduated heights, their bases adorned with glass-enclosed pillar candles. Candles flickered, casting a warm glow on the faces of loved ones. Embracing this intimacy, Stephanie and Matt entered their ceremony together.
As the evening unfolded, the ballroom transformed into a space where contrasts found their perfect harmony. The escort card table bore a lush arrangement primarily of greenery, cradled in a tall fluted glass vase. Lemon leaf, seeded eucalyptus, and delicate touches of jasmine vine intertwined with white larkspur, stock, and spray roses.
Tables dressed in crisp white linens were punctuated by black accents. Stephanie and Matt’s reception tables exuded understated opulence. Glass cylinder vases of varying heights held pillar candles, creating a symphony of light. Amongst these beacons of warmth stood boutique bud vases, adorned with white anemone, white roses, and ruscus foliage.
Stephanie and Matt’s wedding was a celebration of monochromatic elegance and enduring joy. Against the backdrop of Hotel Monaco DC, their union blossomed, leaving an indelible mark on all who bore witness. This monochromatic wedding affair was a testament to the enduring power of simplicity, grace, and love.
