There are some couples that when we meet, we just know that it is a match made in heaven and a romance for the ages. Jerry and Lucas were one of those couples, and their wedding truly reflected that love. Using a masculine palette of whites with a clean, modern feel, Jerry and Lucas’ modern museum wedding was classic, elegant, romantic, and simply beautiful. Each of the grooms wore white mini-calla lilies accented with bear grass and twists of curly willow tips. The male attendants also wore white mini-calla lilies more simply adorned, while the female attendants carries small posies of white mini-calla lilies.
The ceremony was one of our favorites to date. Dramatic arrangements of white hydrangea and curly willow branches soared in glass trumpet vases. They were placed both flanking the ceremony area on varying height pedestals as well as the entrance to the aisle. A table placed between the pedestals held a veritable bed of candlelight created by glass-enclosed pillar candles.
Greeting guests at the New York Avenue entrance was a striking design of white callas, snapdragons, and gladiola stemming from a lush collar of white hydrangea and accented with curly willow branches. The reception took place on the mezzanine level of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The tables were mixed between three designs: A clean, modern design of glass vases holding white flowers – mini-calla lilies, baby’s breath, stock, hydrangea and orchids – each table varying across the space; an eclectic collection of candles seated in a bed of ivory rose petals; and a dramatic, masculine look of tall glass trumpet vases filled with curly willow branches and white hydrangea. The head table was truly the pièce de résistance of the reception. Centered on the chandeliers in the great hall, a long rectangular table featured tall designs of hydrangea and branches interspersed with monobotanic vases of white flowers and candles along the length of the table.
