If I were to guess what the most searched wedding term this year, it might be this: “prettiest DC intimate wedding venues”! Whether out of necessity or preference, people are trading big wedding venues for small intimate spaces as they look for a way to enjoy their nuptials with family and close friends. While it might seem like an easy find, it can be more challenging than you think! We have worked with a host of places – and some serious gems – in the DC area. We thought we’d compile a list of a few that we love! This list is far from exhaustive, but spaces with natural light, outdoor spaces, and unusual features are high on our list. We hope you find something you love! There are so many gems here in Old Town that OF COURSE we have to start with our home town faves.
Alexandria
Athenaeum
Besides the unique feature of having an intimate reception surrounded by art, we love the seemingly hidden patio garden behind the Athenaeum. See a few more weddings we’ve done here on our blog.
Rooftop at the Archer Hotel
We’re a sucker for a view, have you noticed? While we haven’t done a reception at the Archer Hotel rooftop ourselves (plenty of ceremonies), we can’t help but think that, in addition to a ceremony, a very small and intimate dinner on the rooftop is a *should* here…
Morrison House
“House” is a great description for Morrison House because a reception here feels like home.
The George of Old Town
Patio ceremony? Yes, please. The interior spaces are equally interesting, and best of all, The George can double as an Airbnb for your nearest and dearest to overnight.
Arlington
Hendry House
The Hendry House is a total hidden gem in Arlington. The quirky restored turn of the century Victorian home is seated on a 19 acre park setting. We particularly love the pergola on the site that provides an instant arch for any ceremony – with our without extra decor.
Le Meridien
Not to be confused with Meridian House, Le Meridien Hotel in Arlington boasts magnificent views of DC. The Amuse restaurant, bar and terrace allows for a picturesque and modern ceremony and intimate dining space.
Falls Church
2941 Restaurant
Tucked away amidst what otherwise feels like an office park in Falls Church, 2941 Restaurant has some charming, small private event spaces, but really it’s the grounds that sets this venue apart. With lakes and waterfalls, picturesque options abounds.
Washington, DC
Cuba Libre
Craving the feel of a destination wedding but stuck here in DC? Get a taste of Caribbean at Cuba Libre.
Tabard Inn
Imagine a wedding ceremony in a private garden patio followed by dinner in a 19th century period townhome. Swoon…
This list just scratches the tip of the iceberg. There are SO MANY great small venues in DC, from boutique hotels to small restaurants. Still have your heart set on the big fete? No problem. Many of these make equally great choices for engagement parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, and more.
