There are so many places to find inspiration for your wedding – favorite colors, Pinterest, a magazine spread, your venue… Why not start at the very beginning with invitations! We recently collaborated with Paperless Post to create a series of inspiration boards based on their collection of wedding invitations. While we are familiar with the company as an online invitation source for small events, they have an incredible array of wedding invitations. We selected three of our favorites below with an accompanying design board.
First up is Paper + Cup’s Flower Wheel. There are four items in this suite – a save the date, invitation, rehearsal dinner invite, and thank you note. As a premium option, an envelope with a polka dotted liner is available. (Squee! Love polka dots!) We picked up on the simple pink of the flower motif to pair it with light pink ranunculus and pink swirled linens, whimsical polka dotted dinnerware, hobnail containers, and a more casual short wedding dress. For the groom, we can easily see a summery seersucker suit.
While the pattern on Oscar de La Renta’s Floral Trellis II is floral in nature, we love the way the blue-white contrast creates a masculine spin on a romantic look. To complement the save the dates and personalized note cards, Paperless Post offers white envelopes with a blue liner as a premium option. We envision shades of blue and white to coordinate with this invitation – sprays of dark and light blue delphinium, white orchids, navy dresses for women, and a reverse white pattern on blue to allow for a more colorful tablescape.
Finally, we just adore the Oscar de la Renta Painted Roses invitation suite with its moody and sensuous reds and olive greens against an ivory backdrop. The other items in the suite include a save the date, that has the vining roses along both sides, and as a premium option, a directions card and envelope with gold liner. We imagine a design coming together of rich red flowers – roses, dahlia, and amaryllis paired with berries, even fruit on the vine and sage hues of eucalyptus, all made more elegant with an infusion of champagnes, bronzes and golds in linens and containers.
And lest you worry – not all Paperless Post invitations are strictly paperless. If you are traditional at heart, these designs (and many others) are available in paper form, too.
