A crisp classic and a long-time VIP on the floral scene.
Although dahlias have always been a major player in the world of cut flower favorites, they have long played a second fiddle to certain spring darlings like peonies.
For the past few seasons, however, they’ve experienced a much-deserved resurgence facilitated by the lush vintage garden trend. Perhaps one of the most notable varieties to enjoy a good deal of popularity is the ‘Café au lait’ dahlia, the heads of which can reach diameters of over ten inches!
Meticulous petal formation, saturated hues in every color under the sun, singular architectural texture, dahlias have it all!
Dahlia Facts
Season: Early summer to late autumn
Colors: Though black dahlias don’t actually exist, they come in almost every other color including burgundies that range from deep red to plum, pinks, reds, yellows, oranges, whites and a vast array of variegated varieties
When to Use: Due to the incredible spectrum of colors, sizes, and petal formations of dahlias, it’s fairly safe to say dahlias are welcome at any party. They are equally at home in a bouquet as in a table arrangement – large or small. They do tend to be a bit big for your average boutonniere however.
