Beth and Matt’s fall Navy wedding at Strathmore Mansion in Rockville. Pumpkins and fall colors were the order of the day. Beth’s cascade-style bridal bouquet featured roses, mini-calla lilies, dahlia and Chinese lanterns in varying shades of orange. Each of the bridesmaids carried hand-tied bouquets of mango mini-calla lilies. To coordinate, the groom’s boutonniere featured a mango mini-calla lily while the rest of the men sported an orange rose accented with artful loops of bear grass.
If ever there was an organized bride, Beth was it! In addition to the flowers, we worked with Beth and Matt on the day of event management for the wedding. In preparation for our discussion of the final details, Beth had worked up a 26-page “wedding playbook”! (Unnecessary but truly appreciated by everyone!!) One of the best aspects of going beyond flowers with couples is we really get an insight into their personalities and backgrounds. Beth’s background in project management was amazing!
As guests arrived at the site, they were greeted with an elegant fountain holding a mix of orange and white mini-pumpkins. The wedding ceremony took place in the music room. Outside the door, a petite vintage suitcase held the programs as well as a mini-white pumpkins filled with orange flowers. Gracing the top of the fireplace mantle was a series of gold mint julep cups, each holding a small design of orange roses, spray roses, dahlia and Chinese lanterns, interspersed with glass-enclosed pillar candles of varying heights and small white and orange pumpkins to complete the fall feel. In addition to the traditional rites, Beth and Matt included a “blending of the sands” ceremony, mixing sands in the wedding colors of orange and blue. The ceremony itself was amazing, including tidbits of their story, how they met, and how the relationship developed. Not a dry eye in the house!
For the escort card table, a tall glass cylinder vase was filled with white mini-pumpkins. It was topped with an express design of orange orchids, snapdragons, pumpkin branch, gladiola, bird of paradise and Chinese lanterns. The table was lined with small white pumpkin card holders with guests’ escort card. The table centerpieces for the reception featured a hollowed out white pumpkin filled with a textured design of orange flowers accented with bird of paradise. The couple though of some amazing details, including an audio guestbook in which guests could leave their wedding wishes on a vintage phone! The company came to Beth and Matt’s attention through Matt’s line of work. As a nod of what was to come, the favors awaiting guests at the tables held a s’mores kit.
Thank you Beth and Matt for allowing us to help with seeing you through your day! Congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy marriage!
