Venue Spotlight: 3 Stylish DC Hotel Wedding Venues

Venue Spotlight: 3 Stylish DC Hotel Wedding Venues

Washington, DC weather is extremely variable. Our winters are mild overall, but that one fateful snowstorm closes everything down. Spring is delightful, but turns to hot extremely fast. And summer… well in summer our thoughts immediately turn to where to find beautiful, comfortable, cooling air conditioning! While there are lovely outdoor gardens and historic sites across the city for a wedding, three of our favorite DC wedding venues offer the blissful shelter of the indoors and are all located across from each other at the corner of 24th and M Streets. We speak of none other than the Fairmont, the Park Hyatt and the Westin Georgetown hotels! You could not find three more stylish Washington DC hotel wedding venues in which to wed!

Fairmont

First in our list of amazing DC hotel wedding venues is the Fairmont Hotel. The array of amazing spaces includes a central courtyard filled with lush greens and a lovely fountain, perfect for that in-between cocktail hour (and really even the wedding itself). Most popular amongst many of our couples is the Colonnade Room, with its unusual colonnaded atrium in the center of the space. It is perfect for ceremonies – giving guests an almost in-the-round view of the festivities. It becomes a built-in dance floor after dinner. Large enough to accommodate even a chuppah, we find that ceremonies look best with a runner creating a visual processional through the space. We particularly love suspending votives from the perimeter of the colonnade. But don’t forget the grand ballroom downstairs! Ample enough for a few hundred guests, the space with its elegant chandeliers can truly be transformed with uplighting.

Park Hyatt

In contrast to the Fairmont, the Park Hyatt is truly an indoor space, and no less elegant for it. The ballroom level feels like a private oasis, with intimate seating areas along the hall and side rooms for cocktail hours. The ballroom is frequently pipe-and-draped, creating a magical, closed in feel. We love how the space treads from opulent and classic to simple and modern all at once. The draping allows for the most elegant entrances into the room, making it high on our list of stylish DC hotel wedding venues

Westin Georgetown

Diagonally across the street from the Fairmont and across from the Park Hyatt sits the Westin Georgetown. A more contemporary space, this DC hotel wedding venues includes an intimate outdoor courtyard that is particularly popular for ceremonies. While many choose to center the ceremony on the fountain, we have also oriented in either of the longer directions. The Promenade reception space has unique soaring columns that create a simple grandeur. It is a space equally comfortable for tall and low table centerpiece. And as with the other hotels, an elegant ballroom downstairs offers additional options (and a back up plan in case of rain).

Ritz Carlton DC

Shhh! We didn’t forget the other grand hotel in this neighborhood. Among DC wedding venues, the Ritz Carlton is not to be neglected. You’ll find this stunning venue just a few blocks away. Amanda & Jack’s Woodend wedding drew its inspiration from a William Morris print - lush, romantic, and rooted in nature. The florals carried that spirit through every detail: moss runners lined the tables, dotted with petite brown bottles of chamomile, blush spray roses, and wisps of greenery that felt as if they had grown there overnight. Cloche domes held tiny blooms like keepsakes. Brass animals cradled florals as though part of the garden itself, a perfect nod to the nature sanctuary venue. (Which ones can you find?) Even the greenery-lined staircase framing the cake echoed the same story. Every bloom was chosen for texture and movement, bringing that painterly, botanical world to life in three dimensions.

We call it the creep…

Everyone talks about the rising cost of flowers, but there’s another story behind the numbers: time. Over the years, wedding timelines have stretched. First looks, detail shots, getting-ready portraits, ceremony and reception setups starting hours earlier than before, and more complex with event breakdowns. Florists are often still paid by the piece, not by the hour, yet the hours have multiplied.

What was once a 2 to 4 hour delivery day has quietly turned into a 12 to 16 hour production days with setup, standby, and late-night breakdowns. And flowers are still perishable, so they cannot sit out waiting for the photography timeline to catch up.

When couples ask why flowers cost more now, this is part of the answer. It is not just about stems or supply chains. It is the labor, the logistics, and the reality that perfection takes time, often a lot more than it used to.
