DC Gala Floral Design for an Oz-Inspired Evening
This year’s National Capital Chapter of the Club Management Association of America gala was a showcase of creativity — and a perfect example of how DC gala floral design can transform an event. Held at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, the gala embraced a whimsical Oz-inspired theme, with each design detail adding to the evening’s magic.
The floral story began at the in the cocktail area, where the DC gala’s floral design choice celebrated key moments from the Wizard of Oz. Shallow, moss covered dishes held petite “gardens” of red anemones, evoking Dorothy’s poppy field. Bright yellow monochromatic arrangements of yellow roses, oncidium orchids and solidago lined other tables, a nod to the Yellow Brick Road.
The reception space transported guests to the Emerald City. Long rectangular tables featured layered tablescapes of green glass bud vases, each holding green flowers and textured foliage. Green spider mums, hypericum berries, hellebores, parrot tulips and more created a dynamic and impactful design in green glass bud vases of varying styles. Sculptural green centerpieces added height and depth, while green LED taper candles illuminated the room with an enchanting glow.
Throughout the evening, floral design played a starring role in building an immersive experience. This event was a true testament to the power of DC gala floral design to elevate a creative concept and deliver an unforgettable atmosphere.
