It’s always fun to find out the color Pantone has chosen as its Color of the Year, and 2019 is no exception! We’re definitely predicting this year’s selection, Living Coral, to be a popular shade for wedding flowers, linens, wedding party attire and more throughout this year and, likely, beyond. On its website, Pantone describes Living Coral as “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.” To our eye, it’s similar to past Color of the Year picks Tigerlily (2004), and to a lesser extent, Tangerine Tango (2012), but that makes it no less of a vibrant and beautiful choice for a wedding.
The only flowers that typically come in a true coral shade are peonies, as well as certain roses and godetia. However, you can also achieve the effect of a coral color palette by incorporating a mix of orange and pink flowers, which tricks the eye. This approach allows you to select from a wider variety of blooms. Of course, we’re happy to give you more specific suggestions based on your vision!
For now, to celebrate Living Coral’s accolade, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite coral images from past weddings to inspire you!
