Margot and Chris’ classic St Francis Hall wedding was simply picture perfect spring pretty. The ceremony took place at St. Alban’s Church, so it made sense to start the day with photos on the beautiful grounds of the school and surrounding the National Cathedral. We love the joy in their first look photos. Margot’s bouquet featured stunning light pink peonies, ivory garden roses, white dahlia, and pale pink stock accented with silver dusty miller and brunnea pods. The flower girls carried the most charming white wicker baskets filled with pale pink spray roses blossoms.
In addition to providing the flowers, we assisted with the day-of event management. Being there to see all of the elements of the wedding and the love between the bride and groom and their families always makes us remember why we love this business so much! It was lovely to be able to help see them down the aisle. Both Margot and Chris were so organized throughout their planning process; they made our job taking over at the last minute easy! Following the ceremony, a vintage automobile whisked Margot and Chris to the reception site. This car was a stunner.
The schedule for the classic St Francis Hall wedding reception gave the couple ample time to take a few photos on the grounds of the Franciscan monastery with its incredible architecture.
The classic St Francis Hall wedding reception hall featured bright blue linens and gold chivari chairs. A mix of tall and low table centerpieces created the perfect blend of drama and interest. Margot and Chris’ guests were a truly international crowd, many flying in from all over the world for their wedding. To give the fete a local spin, they incorporated many DC themed elements. The city’s skyline was emblazoned on the escort cards. A map of DC was centered on the gift card table, with postcards for guests to leave the bride and groom a special note. It always makes things more exciting for us when we get to work with more of the details than just the flowers. DC monuments also made an appearance on table number cards. For a bit a fun, a mad lib greeted guests at each place setting. The tall arrangements featured hydrangea, stock, roses and lisianthus in shades of light pink accented with dusty miller and brunnea pods for looseness and texture. Low designs featured similar flowers in an elegant glass footed bowl. The cake was just amazing, with swiss dots, rings of blue ribbon and the most perfect sugar peonies. As a thank you for their guests, a sign suggested a choice from two favors, votive candles emblazoned with the city skyline or chocolates.
It was a fun party – plenty of dancing and toasts with teary eyes that showed how much these families liked each other! A big thank you to Margot and Chris for letting us be a part of their classic St Francis Hall wedding day!
