Woodend Sanctuary is both a historic house and a nature sanctuary, located in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The John Russell Pope house provides an elegant and classic venue for the ceremony, while the charming tree-lined grove is one of our favorite choices for the ceremony. Natalie and Lawrence’s wedding was unique for us in 2020, as it was the first that didn’t change. The date didn’t postpone. Their didn’t exchange venues. While Natalie and Lawrence did make the necessary guest and distancing accommodations, and the bohemian Woodend wedding went off beautifully!
Natalie’s bouquet was such a rich mix of textures – playful peach Juliet garden roses blended with dark-eyed anemone, deep burgundy dahlia, red and orange ranunculus, touches of lavender, and thistle, dark berries, eucalyptus, fern, and ruscus. It really set the tone for the organic, bohemian Woodend wedding the pair had in mind.
The bohemian Woodend wedding ceremony was set with a deconstructed arch designed with a mix of perfect fall textures – chocolate weigela, nine bark and copper beach foliage, lush dahlia, pampas grass and eucalyptus. The aisle was lined with rustic wood boxes with eucalyptus and pampas grass.
The palette for the wedding reception was unique, and the perfect combination for fall bohemian Woodend wedding. It included burgundy dahlia, deep red garden roses, orange and ivory spray roses, deep dark berries, blue thistle, and a rich mix of eucalyptus, acacia, fern and ruscus foliages. Each were set in garden urns. The ceremony decor was repurposed for the sweetheart table, along with a garland of eucalyptus foliage, making an apt statement for the reception.
